The day Stars announced they would legally be in New Jersey, I bought in. The stock has dipped quite a bit and DB is considering purchasing the remaining shares to take the company into the private sector again. I bought the stock as a long term investment and I really hope they revert to the company they once were. That being said..

I have to say, as an Amaya shareholder, the one thing that the company does right, is help facilitate chops at poker tournaments. WSOP I have tried to ask about this. The response I get from the TDs at the Circuit stops is it affects the points standings..or on twitter, IRS issues or child support issues. Let's say we are heads up..1st is 35k and 2nd is 20k..the IRS will be collecting 28% of that either way on average. WSOP wouldn't want to know that I only made 30k for 1st and the other guy made 25? Child care..ok we are heads up..other guy is very wealthy and really wants the trophy. I am scheduled to make 20k, and I have child support..However..He says, give me the trophy and I will give you 35k..Is that what the IRS wants? I want to be neutral and know how the players feel. Please vote. I would really appreciate the help of the poker community to make this a bigger issue. I give Stars so much credit for how they handle this specific issue..Thanks..

True story, I was heads up with a guy from the USA and he realised I was British. We had a discussion about making it winner take all, and him letting me win so I would pay no tax, then I would get 55% for my trouble, vs his 45%. Everything went to plan, even though he was sweating the walk to the cage.

I guess this is the sort of the thing the IRS is trying to stop. FWIW, this was a medium-ish tourney at a casino on the strip. The TD had no issue with the deal, this was 2011.
