I'm from the uk, but Japan has been pretty central to my life for like 15 years, so i have been there a lot, and it's probably the place i enjoy traveling most. In general I tend to go to places where I know people, since i think it makes for a more interesting/enjoyable trip - that's the case with korea, india, guatemala, the lebanon and several of my euro trips have been built around seeing people.

As for places i'd like to go, there are a lot of places i'd like to revisit, i've seen substantially 0% of china and would like to go back, Morooco was amazing, etc etc, and i'd also like to explore a lot more of my own country (the uk) but some places i've not been i'd like to see:

Mexico (what i'd really like to see is some of the Mexican/Guatemala Mayan sites)
Jordan
Vietnam sounds fascinating
I'd also love to see the himalayas somehow - i saw them from a plane coming back from HK in January, and it's mindblowing how high they are - it's comparable in height to the altitude the plane is at.
I'm also fascinated by eastern Russia, but i'm not really sure i'd like to visit.

which was written by (IIRC) a guy from the Times about his experiences in Iran. It's focused on his desire to understand the architecture but also the people he meets, and was really eye opening to me at least.
