Re: TV Show Marathon recommendations

Do you guys really marathon comedies like "Community". Don't get me wrong, I love the show, it's one of the greatest comedies on TV, but after 2-3 episodes, it's ok. I need a pause from Abed and his awesomeness :P

Just finished my personal August marathon. Started The Wire at the start of the month and just finished it, 2-4 episodes each day. I have enjoyed it a lot, thanks to everyone who said how good it was.

Next stop: Breaking Bad!

Re: TV Show Marathon recommendations

Keep 'em coming guys, some great stuff itt!

I personally enjoy comedy shows (particularly all the British gold that has been made) more than drama and can recommend following shows (in random order):

- The Office (UK)
- 'Allo 'Allo
- How I Met Your Mother
- Community
- Blackadder
- Two And a Half Men
- Family Guy
- Fawlty Towers
- Are You Being Served?
- The Inbetweeners

Some of these are obv better known and more suitable for a marathon than others. Only show I ever really marathoned was Dexter (and I'm glad I did, awesome show).

If you want to go a bit old school, check out "The State" it was a sketch comedy show on MTV in the 90's. Funny as hell!

Re: TV Show Marathon recommendations

Some shows that I legitimately HAVE marathoned in the very recent past (all of these shows were ones that I never watched a single episode of before, but have now watched the entire series of to date!):

- Bored to Death
- Nurse Jackie
- Veep
- Archer

Re: TV Show Marathon recommendations

I've tried to watch the Wire maybe 3 times and each time never got further than the 3rd episode or so.

I might give it another go and just watch the first 10 episodes in a row to get into it. I know the feeling of being envious of people who haven't seen a TV show yet.

Breaking bad, mad men are two of my favourites - Prison break is also a classic if you haven't seen it (and lost), but I guess everyone has by now.

It's always sunny is my favourite comedy - but it doesn't necessarily lend itself to a marathon, in the regard that it's not really a continuous story but rather each episode stands alone. Modern family is also great too

This happened to me the first time I watched it got bored in about the second episode. Have now watched it all 3-4 times through and can confirm it is the clear best thing to ever hit tv

Re: TV Show Marathon recommendations

The greatest show ever to come out of Australia is called Frontline which is based on a current affairs show - I don't know how many people would get it since Australian current affairs are pretty unique. It has about 30 episodes of quality and definitely good for a marathon. Was made by the same people who did the Castle

Underbelly series 1 was also pretty good. It was based on the gang war in Melbourne about 10-15 years ago and they did a pretty good job portraying the carnage. Series 2+ have been nothing short of horrible though

Re: TV Show Marathon recommendations

The "new series" of Doctor Who is really good. Especially the first two seasons - after that it goes a bit up and down, though most of it is still well worth watching. The two first seasons are really awesome though.
