i thought i remember you guys (actually it was MJ and TC) discussing in episode #89 (bill chen) that there was some confusion with Bill about time zones, and what time the phone interview would be, MJ chimes in with a reference to the Durrrr episode

"so far in the history of the 2+2 pokercast, we've had one other person that couldnt figure out the whole difference between, ah, eastern time and pacific time, and the same thing happend, and it was Tom Dwan, and it was a much celebrated, um, you know, situation where we ended up interrupting him at dinner, and had a brief conversation with him, 'cause he thought it was east coast time and it was west coast time, and it was just a bit of a, um,ah,umaah, screw up and misunderstanding"

this notion really seemed to come through in the Durrrr interview, he seemed a little upset about the screw up at the time (imo) and obv had something else on his mind. All this together kind of gave me the impression that Durrrr was unhappy about the whole siuation, and prob put the blame on you guys, b/c Durrrr is never wrong (obv). anyways, thats what led me to believe he didnt care for you guys, but maybe i got it all wrong, and there is a chance durrrr will be back in the future?? there is so much that has happened revolving his poker career over the past 2 years since you guys last interviewed him, maybe catch him at the WSOP or something?? i would love to hear a durrrr story time?

P.S. Steve Cyr round 2?!?!??!?!

I think you guys should have Dustin Byfuglien on the show to talk about his domination over the Luongo and the Canucks.

Would love to hear Paul Magriel talk about how much his statistical background does or doesn't aid his game.

Aside from Alan Boston (who was as much about sports betting) almost every interview is with someone in their 20's.

I would like to hear from a successful 35+ year old player who began in the Moneymaker era and is now a successful online player.

Maybe married with kids and replaced their 100,000+ job and doesnt hang in the same circles as the typical college kid metality type interviewees that appear all the time.

Basically someone who had a real life and lots to risk / lose but succeeded. That is quite a different challenge than playing from your dorm room.

Just a change from the kid who had no money or responsibilities and it was a no lose situation - we hear that time and time again...

Maybe that 35+ year old player doesnt exist and it is only a college kid who has the time. computer savvy and lack of responsibilities to make it to the top echelon these days?

It would be great to have PS Steve or someone from PS to talk about what they are going to do about PTR Premium...things pretty wild, I am probably going to have to get it if they arent stopping it.

+1. Been wondering what their policy is going to be since I got my beta access.

Thanks for listening Paul.

You are correct that they aren't that many of those that exist, particularly that play exclusively online. Many of those who have 100K+ jobs, generally play poker as a side job or income generating part-time business.

There are a few players that have come from or are still in the professional world and suceeded in the poker world that we have had on the show.

Try these guests in our archives

Andrew Brokos
Vanessa Selbst X3
Eric 'Sheets' Haber X2
Bill Chen
Greg Raymer
Matt Hawrilenko
Howard Lederer

Next Monday, Matt Glantz will be on the program and he fits the criteria. He looks like he could be almost 35.

We consciously try to mix up the ages of guests and in the last four months we have had Mike Matusow, Doyle Brunson, Phil Laak, Rich Muny, Mason Malmuth, David Sklanksy, Mori Eskandani, Lee Jones, Matt Savage, Mel Judah, Tony Hachem among others all who would be in the age range you are thinking of. I would say it's probably about 50/50 with guests in the 20's vs. others.

It's undeniable that the majority of the accomplishments at the tables these days are being achieved by players in their 20's. Proabably 90% of the winnners of the last say, 20 major live/online events have been under 30 years old. I'm sure someone could prove this statistically.

Kirbynator.

Not because he took down another Sunday major yesterday, nor because you misidentified his former avatar, but because he likes to talk about hockey.

When you talk to the PokerStars employees please ask them how many cheaters they found that week or the last time you talked with them. Will PokerStars comment on the number of cheaters they found within a particular tournament series? What games are they finding the most/least cheaters in? I think it would be nice if we could get regular updates on the effectiveness of their security with some actual numbers.

Pokerstars Steve does not work in the security department at PokerStars. If we had a security representative as a guest, I am certain they would answer questions in generality, not in specific detail. If there is a specific concern or suspicion of cheating, I believe e-mailing Stars security directly would be your best means of getting the information you are looking for.

Kind of obvious, but you could try to interview Laak right after his 75 hour session. If he starts on a Friday, the timing might work out perfectly. Last time he was only up for 40 hrs before the interview.

More jizz stories ftw.

The "I quit my job after losing 200 buy-ins." commercial is doing nothing for me. A strategy sponsor could impress me if they would take on a case study.

2+2 could nominate a sub-par or novice player, preferably someone with time and motivation. While the player takes whatever courses and training, the strategy sponsor could give us a broad idea of what he is learning or a highlight a particular problem on which the player received help and we could all follow his progress and bankroll.

How about talking to KurtSF, a microstakes player and 2+2 moderator who participated in WSOP Event #8 backed by his forum buddies and made the final table (finishing ahead of PH)?
