Shame on Adam Schwartz
Here is the tweet:
Adam Schwartz @PokercastAdam
Hey Jarrett Nash, here's a checkbox list of things we know exist: [x] Your chip stack [ ] God
This tweet is extremely disgusting, and honestly, i am saddened that you decided to say such a thing. Someone made a choice based on priorities in there life, and you can't even show the decency to respect then. You do not have to agree with, nor believe what he did was right, but I think it shows an immense amount of hubris to act like you are so much better than them. Some things are more important to poker,a dn the fact that what he considers more important does no line up with your definition is no reason crush him.
He is going to make 40k, be happy with his choices, and honor what he feels is most important. I hardly see why that deserves being laughed at, or mocked. I think you should apologize Adam, because if you can't think of something that trumps poker, then I feel bad for you, i really do,a nd if you believe there are things that trump poker, then I fail to understand how you can talk the way you do.

Re: Shame on Adam Schwartz
Was thoroughly confused, here's for others:
(from WSOP.com).
Quote:
7/14/2012 5:41:51 PM PST (about 34 minutes ago)
Jarrett Nash Eliminated in 171st Place ($44,655)
At the beginning of Day 5 of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, Jarrett Nash was no where to be found. His chips were stacked for him, and his chip bag was draped over his chair. Slowly, he began to blind out, until he was down to his last 2,000 chips here in Level 22.
On his final hand, Tournament Director Bill Bruce tossed in his last two yellow T1,000 chips (two thirds of an ante), and mucked his hand.
"Jarrett Nash, 171st place," Bruce said into his walkie talkie.
There have been a few rumors circulating on Twitter, so we asked Seth Palansky, the vice president of corporate communications for Caesars Interactive Entertainment Inc., to explain the situation.
According to Palansky, Nash observes the sabbath, meaning that from sundown Friday night to sundown Saturday he was unable to play. Nash explained this to the WSOP staff last night, and left before the day was over. He fully understood the consequences of not playing until after the dinner break today, and left his Total Rewards card, knowing that he was going to bust.
Nash missed an $8,000 pay jump by nine eliminations, and will have to settle with $44,655.

Even with the last argument, if he made it this far he was going to get a good ROI for his troubles, so really, it's not like he was going to be gone on bubble day, or something like that.

Re: Shame on Adam Schwartz
I'm sure Adam won't shy away from joining the discussion whenever he wanders by, just want to remind folks (don't really feel I need to) to keep it civil, and that this isn't the RGT forum.

Agree completely, I don't want a theological debate, I just think he should apologize for being insensitive to someonelses beliefs when they are really not that far out of left field, that is all.

Re: Shame on Adam Schwartz
Adam is entitled to make that Tweet. It's succinct, not without humor, a point well made.
I respect Mr Nash's right to observe the Sabbath and i respect Mr Schwartz's right to take the piss. I also respect OP's right to speak his mind. Even if the tone of the OP seems to reek somewhat of self righteous indignation. I hope it's also a piss take.

Re: Shame on Adam Schwartz
Do you think you're blowing this a little out of proportion Schupick?
Maybe offensive to the devoutly religious, but there are people with opposing point of views in this world. If you are this offended by a comment this much, I recommend enclosing yourself in a box. You will encounter much worse in life than twitter comments

I realize there is much worse in life. I am just saying it was insensitive, and really uncalled for. Also, as a religious person, I feel that it's in bad form to let other people put down others for observing there religion. (I don't care the religion; Muslim, Buddhist, etc.) So no, i really don't feel this is blowing it out of proportion.

Re: Shame on Adam Schwartz
I support Adam here. It is your right to be offended by something that he says, but Adam and everyone else can say whatever they want, regardless of what others think. Just like Jarrett Nash can have his religious beliefs and it doesn't matter what other people think or feel. Being offended is only an opinion.
It is your choice to follow Adam on twitter or not, or agree with him or not.

Agree completely. That's why I am saying he should apologize, not because what he said is factually right or wrong, but just because I think you should respect others wishes and beliefs. I think someones family and religion should be off limits when it comes to making fun of them. I don't think or wish anything bad on Adam, and I like 96% of what he says, so I feel it's within reason for what i requested.

Re: Shame on Adam Schwartz
Schupick, it was a joke man. It wasn't mean or mean spirited. And it was totally called for.
If you can't make fun of this sort of thing then what world are we living in? You don't want to live in that world. I respect your beliefs and you seem like a decent guy, but there's a very short list of stuff that is open season for comedy and jokes and satire and piss taking and religion is right up there at the top as well it should be. And that's irregardless of whether God A or B exists or does not. I hope you see that.
A silly little joke cannot over throw the might of any religion it's like sticking pins in a blue whale...which is what makes it okay. A dude blinding out of the Main Event whilst observing the Sabbath...c'mon man...come on...I mean come on...let the man take the piss in a world of free speech. I know speech is not free but lets pretend it is. It's okay, really I promise you it's okay.
