Maybe the pokerstars sponsorship ended. But the game should live on. Anyway with Adams recent meeting with the ceo I'm sure they will be back on board in some way soon

How about a home game league. Keep those pesky Russians out. Except the ones that actually listen.

Global Poker, have you guys talked about this yet? what's going on with that?
03-23-2017 , 01:08 PM
first of all, condolences to Terrence for a hard-fought match. wish i could have seen it on Pay-Per-View, but hopefully there will be a bootleg version on YouTube soon...

secondly, i think you guys should continue with Match Game for at least a little while longer. with you guys, getting a match doesn't really seem to be the point. it's more funny just to hear what everyone has to say. so keep it going!

lastly, would love to hear your thoughts on whether it might be +EV to just fold 99% of the time whenever you get raised in a lower level cash game (anything below 5/10 NLHE) when all you hold is top pair without any real hope of a redraw to a better hand. from my years of experience, the raiser almost always has the goods, and if not, many times they hold a huge combo draw that is even money against our TPTK. unless we have a total dead-on read that someone is just spewing or majorly tilted, i think it makes a lot of sense just to fold and move on. yes, all poker hands are situational, but it seems like this tactic could work well for most players at the lower levels, where no one is bluffing frequently enough. Thoughts?

Please provide extensive coverage of the AP/UB remission news. I didn't have real money on Stars and I was busto on Full Tilt so I was on the sidelines in the wake of Black Friday. Now I have a couple hundy coming and am interested in how it impacts the poker world. Will anybody be rolled for WSOP as a result?

Hi Guys, not sure if this belongs in an email or an ICYMI post, but I was hoping that you could take a second or 2 to talk about the recent deletion then reappearance of hand history saving in the 888/WSOP NJ clients. In case you are un aware of it, take a look at the 888 thread starting at post count 19022 here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...l#post51999151

Basically last week there was an 888 update that completely took away the option to save hand histories, there was no button or checkbox in the client. Some people on here and P5s complained about it, emailed support and 888 said "oops... my bad, that was a mistake" . In my opinion, while the release of this no hand history version may have been a mistake, they obviously have some sort of plan or idea to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a trial balloon of some sort and they got the negative feedback and took it back.

I'm not sure why sites continue to think this is a good idea.

In any case thought it to be worthy of discussion and making the ROW listeners aware that this could happen.

Thanks,
Dan

I'm listening to the PPA guy talking about absolute poker refunds. My guess is that a whole boatload of online players never ever paid their taxes on online winnings, and are likely worried that taking a payout now might create massive tax liabilities. I'm fairly sure that explains much of it.

Strategy Question:
Should your shove/fold (NASH) range change significantly in a Satellite vs regular MTT?

Example: final 33 of sat for $5K entrance to Poker Million in Montreal for 20 spots. Running at 15 BB, sitting around 18th in stack size at 15 BB. A lot of 10 - 20 BB stacks left, very few dominating stacks. 7 Handed table, folds to SB with K9o, BB has 17BB stack. Is a shove better than 2.5 BB open, folding to a shove or check/folding a missed flop??

May be the type of players in these satellites, but a lot are folding down to 1-3 BB before they shove. Final players busting with less than the ante when down to the bubble....

Adam...if you need to lose 2 pounds per week, better start losing 3 per week now, diminishing returns the thinner you get.

Also, can you make the show louder? I like to listen in the gym, and on airplanes. I struggle to hear the show.

Okay tighten up and raised 2.2x when under 20 BB so I could fold or check down a bad flop. Long and short, see you guys in Montreal.

The mailbag intro song, is that the same as the weirdo-frog-last-show of the evening cafe @ Wynn Las Vegas?

Hey guys,

Writing many thousands of miles from Kells.

In our home games we play a lot of PL Stud Hi (yes we like to gamble), if you any of you have any experience playing this game/general thoughts, it'd be great to hear them. I'm mostly a NL/PLO player, although I know the rules and basic strat for Stud, I just feel like I might be making some significant mistakes I'm not aware of.

Just as an example question, what is the relative values of suited starting hands? Say 975ccc for example? Since the bets could become extremely by 4th or 5th street.

Keep up the good work Adam. I bought noise cancelling headphones and that did the trick.

with the WSOP in full swing I was hoping you guys could give your opinion on how different bracelet events compare with online stakes (in terms of toughness of the field).

so for example, in your opinion a $1,500 NLHE bracelet event is approximately as hard as an online $xx MTT. and how about the colossus, the $1k events, the various $10k events etc.

I have my own thoughts on this, but my sample sizes are so low and I've run pretty good at WSOP so my opinion is probably biased towards believing WSOP is easier than it really is.

thanks for any input!

Something very strange occurred at the high stakes tables on Pokerstars this weekend. A high stakes regular (or semi-high stakes regular) intentionally punted his entire bankroll at the tables to make a point to his friends/classmates/backers.

His PS screen name is ValentjNN.

See the high stakes thread (linked below). See post #314 and surrounding posts for the punt. And then see post #448 for his explanation as to why he punted and what lesson(s) he was trying to teach his friends.

How about a segment about the state of Washington (some guests might have to be anonymous.)

Do they go across the border to play online satellites to the big live tournaments? VPN? Switched to full-time live poker? Did anyone play online for a long time not knowing it was illegal? Has anyone been arrested? Maybe bring someone from the PPA in.

Im trying to find a story somewhere way back in the archives. Its probably from somewhere in the 2008-2010 range, where someone comes on and tells a JRB story. The gist of the story is JRB tells the guest that he lost his case money and needs to borrow.
Later on, they are playing at the same table. JRB has the money on him and the guest asks for it back. JRB is completely dumbfounded the guy wants his money back and gets indignant. They go back and forth for a while and eventually JRB angrily gives him the money. JRB then busts, and walks over to the guest and tells him he just lost his case money.

I know its a long shot, but anyone remember this story, and who the guest was?

iTunes on windows has been giving me errors trying to download recently. Last episode I got was with Bill Perkins, now I get "An unknown error occurred (0x80090318)".

Seems like I found some ideas on the interwebs about a bug in the iTunes client when https is used to deliver. Any changes to the upload process, URL, or anything?
