As long as Ross does a good job editing the show, gets the guests names right, makes contributions to the interview, and doesn't take advantage of weekly tournaments he's a part of getting the password wrong on (and people on the show really shouldn't be playing in a sponsored tournament anyway) I think he should be free to make appearences on the show.

Does seriously Terrence think its more likely to get STD acting in porn then from a random girl? Then he refers to sexually active women in awful way but does he hold himself to the same standards

Ignore 'em Ross. Obviously some posters here are experiencing a visit from Aunt Flo.

For those of us in cold weather climates, if you let your car get below 1/4 full you run the risk of vapor lock and being left stranded when your car wont start ( Condensation of moisture in the air in the gas tank causes an accumulation of water. Because water is heavier than gasoline, it settles to the bottom of the tank, entering the gas line and eventually working its way to the lowest point in the fuel system.Once the moisture freezes, the fuel flow is blocked and the engine may not start on a cold morning.) ( Copied that from a website)
Guess I should have mentioned that I was only putting 20 bucks into the tank whenever I stopped for gas.

As for Phil H, I wasn't going after you. It's just, well, I assumed getting Phil on was a big deal to you and MJ. Kind of surprised you forgot when you seem able to recall certain poker hands from a decade ago.

Great show again, btw.

(Curiously, you were rougher on me over the fuel pump thing than you were with Phil. If you have not been told yet today consider it done)

It's funny how tilting the empty petrol tank thing seems to be for some people (myself included). I do kinda think you might be running good/results oriented, though.

Thanks for answering my question. I was 92% listened to this episode this morning, and was perilously close to just deleting and skipping the end, would have missed my moment of fame :red:

Re Vicky Coren leaving Pokerstars, I would recommend reading her "For Richer For Poorer" book, one of the best poker books out there, especially as written by someone who really can write.

She originally had an association with Paradise Poker, but left them when they added blackjack and roulette and sat down with Stars, who put her into the London EPT which she won. So with this in mind, you can see that she has always had an objection to sites which have both casino and poker (not that it stops her playing on these sites and there is a big difference to playing on sites and promoting sites in my opinion).

Also from this book you can see she is not looking at poker through rose tinted glasses, she has associated with many shady characters and played in many dubious places. Even the Vic, the bastion of English poker is a place where she mentions safe crackers, embezzlers etc.

Personally I hope this is something which Stars look at as a great loss to them, they have a few English pros, but no-one like Vicky. She has a regular article in a national paper, her weekly show on BBC 2 (moved from BBC 4, so now has a wider audience, not gone by any means!). She is also a regular participant on Have I got News for you, one of the top current affairs / quiz type shows on BBC 1. She has also been known to appear on the Question Time, another main stream program.

I still have a Have I Got News For You datebook from the first trip my wife and I made to London back at the end of the John Major years. That show is fantastic, even if you don't know all of the UK political/cultural references.

Loved this show but minus all of this legislation stuff. It's getting old. Also the PCA (Pokercast army) would crush, because we have TChan.

Nice post re: Vicky Coren, Graham. +1

Interview with Dani was all good

Thanks for the show guys....

Asked a mechanic friend. This is what he said:

Out of gas is the worst. You can only do it a few times (depending on circumstances) before it ruins the fuel pump (overheats). Running extremely low on fuel is not as bad but there is less fuel to keep the pump cool. Overall the pump is the only thing at risk but it's pretty expensive ($300-$800).

Really good show and all the skype issues seem to be resolved so hope you guys are feeling good about it and TC stays as a long distance co-host!

+1 for the rap intros, maybe not every week for TC's sake :P
12-10-2014 , 03:38 PM
Bring back opening raps just to troll TC

Less Drops IMO

Ansky interview was awesome getting into some strat with him was brilliant

Would love to hear a Sauce123 interview

The Vicky Coren thing i think it is great that someone is taking a stand based on principles and to argue that poker is the same as table games cant be right or else the whole poker as a skill argument is redundant. But yeah seriously read her book best non strat poker book IMO.

Bullet points FTW

It wasn't an official shout out, but I will take the coverage of Allen Cunningham's entry into the Computer Poker Competition as a nod to my contribution to the suggest-a-segment thread.

Oh, and leave Ross alone. Not sure what the hate is all about (besides the drops).

About Skype - Another podcast you've mentioned on the Pokercast explained how they record.

They record at the studio-side, they record the remote-side, they record the Skype feed for backup. The remote-side sends the recording to the studio-side for mix-down.

So no Skype sound.

Sound card oscillators are not always precise.

Maybe get Vicky Coren-Mitchell on to talk about leaving PS?
12-11-2014 , 01:23 PM
Can someone post a link for the facebook group please?
12-11-2014 , 01:49 PM
Also what's the email dress for the show?

Hahaha every radio "zoo" show I've ever heard has this complaint. Carolla fans grouse about Bald Bryan talking. Mark & Brian fans would bellyache about not liking Chuck or Frank on the mic. There was a local morning show here in Sacramento with a producer who, in the rare times he went on the mic, would stumble over his words. Must be a matter of producers and engineers not having the voice or the experience to be on-air personalities, and often it shows.

(Did Bunner have his detractors, too?)

I especially enjoyed Ross contributing on the show in this episode. He had a good relative-beginner's question for PLO, and it elicited a nice bit of strategy from Ansky. As someone who still occasionally gets a little lost in hands in PLO, I certainly appreciated the strategy discussion.

Tournament Poker Edge used to post hands on their site so that listeners could follow along while the guys discussed the play. (For all I know, they still do that.) Very useful. Now if only their recording quality was better...

Send em! Don't have any for this week.

Here's another vote for more Ross, not less. Terrance and Adam are the veteran pros who have successfully made a living from poker. Ross brings in a perspective the rest of us wannabe fish can relate to.

Also, with regards to Vicky Coren's and the whole "Taking advantage of degens" angle: When she wore a PokerStars patch, I think she was in effect, saying: "Poker is a game of skill. Come test your skills on this site." That's what she was endorsing. It's a whole lot different than saying, "Come to this site and play online roulette" which is what wearing a PokerStars patch equates to now in my mind.

Thanks for the kind words, dudes.
