Pokercast Episode 338 - Phil Galfond, Farah Fath and Ben Tollerene Pokercast Episode 338 - Phil Galfond, Farah Fath and Ben Tollerene

Only listened to 2 of the 3 hours so far, but already wanted to come in and say great episode.

Hopefully drop haters see how funny they are when used slightly more sparingly and in the right situations. Ben and Phil were loving the Antonius lines.

I don't care what anyone says, I love the I'm Chillin' references at the beginning. I think that's the SNL reference? Doesn't matter, this was the best one yet, because you described Phil with genuine descriptions of the guest that rhyme with -ide. "My odds implied...he ain't stateside...hates to take the elevator so he installed a slide." ROFLMAO

I just played it back five times. So funny Adam.

I enjoy them too, but only if the co-host continues to find them awkward + refuses to join in, funniest part.

congratz, best show in a long time for sure. for me it was simply because i could just listen for hours to phil and ben talking about everything nosebleed poker related and wished the segment would never end.

shocking to me that u wasted so much time with the game (which to me as a listener wasn't amusing at all) when you could go on and ask them more interesting questions. big thumb down for that.

Great episode so far.

LOL @ $30 spin and gos. I was degen'ing it up in those a few weeks back. The fact that I was winning is a surefire sign they are crazy soft. #biggestgameintheroom

Also the combination of multiple 2x spins, followed by a bad beat in a 6x is so tilting.

Hey guys really liked the show! can you please remind the email address that we can email the show at?

Good work on digging up more info on Phil and Bluefire relationship.

You did the hard work bringing up the topic then when Phil didnt really want to talk about it, you allowed the subject to be changed (as all good journalists do!)

(I do love the show btw, just feel a missed opportunity)

Great job

Farah for permanent host. Great show.

Not that it matters, because Adam doesn't claim to be a journalist, but allowing the subject to be changed is what good journalists *don't* do, and from what I've seen few of the good ones are from the Americas. I absolutely love it when BBC reporters call out foreign ministers who give some BS answer to a question that is either non-responsive or at odds with the cold, hard facts.

As the host of an entertainment show, however, you do want your guests to be comfortable.

From what I could hear of the discussion it was great. I really wish everyone could learn to talk into their mics consistently.

Adam doing a rap or something and the co-host deadpanning in response is getting a bit old. As is the "let's call MJ and see if we can fool him" bit. Otherwise his appearences are one of the highlights of the Adam and Terrance shows.

Ok, you do want guests to be comfortable but Phil's 'dispute' with BFP is an interesting topic.

An interview across any media platform should have the structure

-(interviewer asks difficult question)
-(interviewee doesn't want to discuss. In this case, if I remember correctly Phil says he can't talk about it)
-(interviewer SHOULD ask 'you can't talk about it for legal reasons or you don't want to talk about it?')
Conversation can then continue on another topic. There has to be closure.

I would like to know how the BFP situation finished. There's no other opportunity for me to ever find out. I have to blame the interviewer for not doing as good of a job as he possibly could have done.

(I suppose by extension you could say the same about his discussion with stars representatives but that's not a topic that interests me)

We seem to be in agreement. You said this:

But based on what you said above I think you meant this:
Quote:

The placement of the parenthetical completely changes the context.

Another great show! Everybody Was great. Oh except for Lee Jones blabbering as if we were watching fox news. The new charges are clearly another profit Center for amaya.

I thought the flip games were hilarious, and the guests seemed to really enjoy them.

I liked the quiet, contemplative mood of the discussion with and between Phil and Ben (and Farah). It felt like "Inside the Actors Studio."

Yeah, I will keep voicing my enjoyment of them. Good pull on I'm Chillin' — for some reason, I had it in my head that it was The Dark Side With Nat X but you're absolutely right.

In honor of Chris Rock's return to 30 Rockefeller tonight, I give you this:

stinla

in regard to your point, i was being sarcastic/exaggerating the fact that journalists dont change the subject when they are trying to get a story

Great show, great guests - Think Phil and Ben answered questions in great depth and can understand Phil not going into discussion on BFP. I think there is a difference with having someone on this show than being interviewed by the BBC and asking awkward questions - Adam is not there to make guests / co hosts uncomfortable, but to get information on mutually interesting subjects - and there was so much interesting stuff being discussed.

Also think for a Stars sponsored show it is great to see questions being asked about the changes which hurt the players - with the recent changes made by Stars this week hopefully these questions will continue. Compare this with Poker News which has hardly picked up on any of this, as would seem to be negative publicity - so hats off to Adam for this. Hopefully you will get into some of this with Steve Day next week - agree with the over poster about Lee Jones - normally skip his bits, but this week had to listen to see what corporate BS he came out with (as if I don't get enough of that at work!).

One final thing, with the changes being made by Amaya, hopefully you have got your sponsorship in line for the next year, as can't see them
1) Sponsoring a -$ev show in future
2) Letting you get away with asking questions like you did this week as big corporate companies don't allow this

phil is great, but ben is almost unbearable to listen to. he is so nerdy its hard to listen. ive played both online and are great players but jesus ben is so beyond clueless in how the business world works its mind boggling.

Great point. I would imagine Amaya is working from big to small on the expenditures sheet so it might be a while yet before we see any moves. But yes, it would seem like at some point they will make a decision about continuing the sponsorship.

Fingers crossed, for sure.
