so does the "pretty sure Phil Ivey follows them both on twitter" soundbite ring true now?

I have 22 posts in 4 years, so needless to say I am what you call a lurker. I had to chime in to say that was the most interesting interview I've heard in a long time. Thank you MJ and Adam for all the hard work you do.

It's pretty epic how badly you run.

Just finished the last of the Ivey interview and really enjoyed it. What I love most about it is how he comes off as a pure poker player in the sense that he loves THE GAME. Not just NLHE. Every game. He sounds like he finds pure joy in it the same way I enjoy my dealer's choice home game. It is awesome that he supports the WSOP because it is a festival of all forms of poker.

Although I appreciate the skill of the current crop of online NLHE wizards and German high rollers, etc., my greatest respect goes to the people who aren't narrow specialists in one form of the game that wasn't even all that prevalent 15 years ago.

Great Ivey interview.

Sorry but one criticism : Mike for ****'s sake let the man talk! So many opportunities where Ivey was going to expand and go into more depth and you interrupted. I know you had lots of questions (and the questions were very good) but this is Ivey we're talking about here. He is going to say better stuff on his own!

Always the biggest drawback with phone interviews is never knowing for sure when someone has finished talking. As another poster mentioned though, the fact that it wasn't face to face may have actually helped the situation. I think also based on other interviews we may have been expected short answers but it didn't turn out that way. Sorry.

Tell Sklansky about this tourney at the Bike which did allow for variable buyins from $160 to $5300.

I haven't heard an Ivey interview except once for pokeroad, good job.
He comes really natural in the PR stuff. Maybe it helped too that he just banked. Hormones.

I love the Sklansky minute cause it makes you think.

Great new layout also, the Joan Rivers rant makes me ****ing laugh all the time.

You should do a bumper contest 2+2 is the perfect place for it.

Your a pôö0ker player.

edit: I also liked the french canadian needle at the beginning. Story checks out.

From a fellow Canadian, congratulations on interviewing the big one.

My favorite Ivey answer by far was:

hmmm....some of the other young players...let's see here...who are the young players???...I'm really bad with the names....name some more Germans.

I loved it. I was hoping it would turn into a five minute list of the boys naming random Germans:

uhh.
David Hasselhoff?
uhh..
St0na?
uhh..
Angela Merkel?

I appreciate the effort but I thought the interviewers didn't do too well. It seemed like they were just trying to go through a list of trite questions. They got in a few good questions but didn't really deepen the conversations those questions sparked. It's like the interviewers moved up to a bigger game and leveled themselves.

Still, I was glad to hear the interview and am a fan of the show.

Without going into the myriad logistical hoops and circumstances behind the scenes surrounding the interview, the fact we got as much as we did is actually a minor miracle.

You guys did all the hard work, I just wanted to pop in here and earn some 2p2 cred, since I don't post enough.

You do get full credit for the Karma! Can I get on the show right before the WSOP Main?!?!?

Why interviewers never ask Ivey what his favorite hand? I wanna know what's his favorite poker hand.

I'm very surprised that Ivey came off as personable, and engaging in this interview.

I'm a big Ivey fan, but I always had the impression that he was stiff and guarded to some degree.

Very good interview gentlemen.

I just want to jump in and say I thought you guys did a great job with the interview. It's a balancing act of many things: building a rapport with Ivey, keeping the momentum going, getting your questions in, working within a limited timeframe... all with the ultimate guest who is known for maintaining his privacy.

The fact that Ivey was so engaging was certainly in part due to the preparation and professionalism you both showed as interviewers.

thx for the show guys!

I have to say I love the Sklansky minute. The cadence adds impact IMO.

I believe it. Well done.
Felt like he might have had a funny Patrick story if you asked him though.
I totally understand why you didn't ask about the court case, is he really broke, or how much did he bet on the Hawks?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I found it very noticeable that Phil Ivey did not mention 'Tom' when talking about 'friends he liked playing poker with'. I wonder if recent Dwan activities might have put a strain on their relationship?

Best Ivey moment: when asked if armageddon in the world of poker would have ensued had Ivey lost to Andy Beal....

(matter-of-fact-ly) "Idk......I think....I'd have ended up alright."

LOL Ivey.......
