On the bubble of a multi table tournament people tend to stall. It's +EV to stall if you're a short stack because you pay less blinds and antes compared to the rest of the field and there will be fewer hands to get coolered in. If everyone decided to stall then no one would get an advantage and play would be horrendous.

So something needs to be done about it.

Hand for hand is one such thing that can be applied to remove this issue. Each table plays one hand and then waits for the slowest table to finish their hand before playing hand two.

Round for round is another such thing that can be applied and it's very similar but instead of waiting at the end of each hand for the slowest table you'd just wait at the end of each round for the slowest table (A round is the number of hands it takes for the button to make it all the way round the table).

There are advantages and disadvantages to each idea.

Thanks to Lance for running with the WSOPTeamOMeara story. I was one of the five to play in Tom's honor. It was a humbling experience to fulfill Tom's dream of playing in the Main Event. He wanted to give us an experience which he felt cheated out of. Our objectives for the week to honor Tom, Play our best poker and enjoy ourselves. When greatly exceeded all of these and more. The media attention and the support we received from other players was great. Playing on the feature table at the Main Event was surreal. Making it to the money was a dream and having ESPN feature me on their coverage of the money bubble cemented Tom's legacy.
