There might be some poker discussion on this show. I guess they are trying to con a sponsor into believing such things still happen on this podcast and they're relevant.

I'm suddenly so, so, SO much more happy that we managed to ramble about hockey for 20 minutes.

Did you ask him about this? That's been the main point of discussion whenever his name comes up this year.

If you discussed his unethical behaviour what is the timestamp? If you chose not to ask him about this, why not?

Congrats on the new sponsor, guys

Why not listen to the interview and then ask questions?

Not interested unless they addressed that issue.

One little tidbit from DNegs' interview: did Lederer really assist on the PokerStars buyout of Tilt? Maybe he misspoke, or I just missed this detail back in immediate post-Black Friday days, but this nugget of info surprised me.

I can the timestamp and/or transcribe the quote later. Posting on a stationary bike limits my typing ability, though.

Just reached that part of the interview. Had to laugh at Daniel's comment comparing Las Vegas to San Jose, California in becoming a "one-sport town" that doesn't have to compete with the other major American leagues.

Sure, technically speaking, only the Sharks compete in the city proper. But despite their name, the 49ers are next door in Santa Clara (about 15 minutes from the SAP Center). San Jo is also equally distant, although not equally loyal, to the Giants and A's. (For DNegs' reference, AT&T Park and O.Co Coliseum each is about as far from San Jose as Hamilton is from Toronto.)

As for basketball, the Warriors have more or less become the favorite team of anyone in Northern California except for those still sticking with the Sacramento Kings. Even in normal times, however, San Jose is pretty much Dubs territory (even though the East Bay fans don't like to admit it).

You can't expect an American to know geography.

daniels interviews are great, but i always get a little annoyed by how big his ego is and how he conveys a general feeling of superiority e.g. educating us on how media shapes our opinions, which is why he reads a lot.
kinda reminds me of your average post on reddit. did i mention that he reads a lot?

still think he's a cool dude, just felt like ranting a little

not sure im in love with the idea of breaking up the cast into multiple parts. i don't have a reasonable explanation... i just don't like change!

You sound like a jerk. Feel free to go away. You are not making this thread more enjoyable.

Most everyone else accepts the approach of "I will listen and then give feedback".

Listening to this episode helped me realize how similar a friend of mine (non-poker player) is to Daniel. My friend is an exceptional athlete, very friendly and outgoing, loves being the center of attention, but brags all the time, somehow doing it in a manner that seems less braggy then it would for most. After Daniel told his story about how he ran $600 to $84 to $4500 or whatever it was, he let out a "hahaha!" and I realized this is what my buddy does too! Whenever he boasts about something he's achieved, he laughs and it makes you feel like you're kind of all laughing about it together or something. But then I think about what it would sound like if he didn't laugh, and it would probably just come off as douchey showboating. Like Daniel's story literally did not have anything to do with furthering the story, he just wanted to tell everyone about how he played outside of his bankroll and "willed" himself to spin it up. The end. My buddy does this all the time too but somehow he's still charming enough to have it not come across as douchey. It's a true talent really to be able to replay your accomplishments aloud to others without coming across like an ass.

I think sometimes you start a story with a destination in mind and then never quite get there.

I always enjoy Daniel's interviews by contrast because so many poker nerds are introverts and don't always make for great interview subjects.

Congrats on the new sponsor!

This could definitely be it too. Like he had a point that related to the topic but after finishing sorta forgets what he was going for. Don't get me wrong I like Daniel and obviously I like my friend as well. That's just something I've seen them both get away with while still coming off as charming that I don't think many are capable of.

I don't love it either, but in reality, it's the difference between getting a weekly (or semi-weekly) dose of the PokerCast vs. waiting weeks at a time to get all the pieces together, and thus having at least one segment way out of date.

Change is tough.

Seemed like he really didn't address the Matusow tweet as being anything other than tough to understand humor because we don't know Mike like he does.
