Episode #401 - March 4th, 2016

Live from the Two Plus Two Studios - This week on the Pokercast: A lot going on in this episode so try and keep up! To start Terrence enlightens us on bacon flavoured seaweed and cold showers before we get into the news. In ICYMI: The 2016 WSOP schedule was announced and we take you through it, backlash from the Phil Galfond Op-Ed, a strange craigslist ad and more. Jaime Staples then comes on to chat about his recent poker adventures on and off stream, including playing EPT’s and Team Pro Online week at Stars. After Jaime, since Ross has been playing perfectly lately PLOQuickpro’s John Beauprez joins us to break down Adam and Terrence’s recent hands. We then get into as much of your mail as we can and respond to a concern from last week’s episode, some tournament strategy and a bunch of other questions/comments/poems you had for us over the last two weeks. The formats and passwords to the invitationals are included as well!

On a loosely related note, any time I hear Tim Berners-Lee talk, I think it's a Michael Palin character.

Bill Chen on election futures. When is that happening? That could be 2nd best of all time, behind your Alan Boston appearance once March Madness starts.

Enjoying the PLO content.

I don't watch twitch (not enough time or interest) but I have to say that if I did, Staples would be the one I watch. Very well spoken, few ums and ahs (based solely on the interview) and I think he would be great to follow.

Loved the AdamandTerrenceCo report this week too. I like hearing Adam or T comment on the hand first, then having John jump in after.

Good stuff guys.

Thanks hornsby.

Real pleasure being on the show guys. This is probably my fifth year listening. Appreciate the work you do.

I was just going to say the same thing. Jaime was such a pleasure to listen to. Always sounded like he knew what to say next, almost like he was scripted.

I don't watch a lot of Twitch, but when I do, I watch Jaime.

I listened to the pokercast in the car. I got a little confused with some of Terrence's hands because Adam said it was $1/2, and Terrence opened to $3.
I had to go back and look at the hand replayer to see it was .50/$1, so the open to $3 makes sense now. Just a small thing, but made the hand confusing to understand because I wasn't sure what the effective stack sizes or number of big blinds were.

Listening to the Strategy section while following along with the Boom web pages works very well. It does mean (for me) it's best to listen to this section with full attention, rather than while doing something else, but thanks.

relating to the "bad-beat rage" discussion, I remember beating up my nintendo joystick controller by banging it against the side of my desk. May have been that game, Double Dribble, that put me over the edge. Maybe track and field.. glad to be past those days! lol

I agree. I was out exercising when listening to the podcast, and once the strategy segment came on, I paused it and started a different podcast so I could listen to that part when on my computer. Just finished today!
