Episode #368 - June 18th, 2015

This week on the Pokercast: The crew is on location at the 2015 WSOP in Las Vegas and we have recent bracelet winner Shaun Deeb with us to talk about everything that has been going on in poker this week. The guys run down the latest bracelet events and stories as Shaun chimes in with some insider info, such as the truth about Hellmuth’s Razz game. In other news this week: Hellmuth takes heat on twitter for thanking his sponsors, there’s been a last minute change to the format of the $50k players championship, the guys address the issue of the new flimsy cards at the Rio and more. Adam and T then turn to Shaun and talk about an insane new form of Chinese Poker he has been playing, his series so far/the bracelet and awesome final hand of heads up vs. Paul Volpe, juggling family and poker and general Vegas stories from this year. After Shaun heads back to the Rio to play, the guys review their trip so far… including a 2+2 party on Vegas’ sketchy side of town, the guys answer the mailbag, give forum shout outs and review some tweets in “140 or less”. A couple of live tournament hands are reviewed from Ross, and this week’s format and password to the Pokercast Invitational are in the show!

I was listening to deeb and questioning why he irks me so much and then he goes into being the king of slowrolls and everything makes sense again.

One thing tilted me during this episode: it's not called babysitting when it's your kid. That's just being a parent.

Man I used to get real angry in those tiny homegames when I was 17-18, thanks a lot for reminding me

I have a 6 month old and would def be down for the poker players day care house. I had to fly my mom up for a weekend to come watch the kid so I could head to Vegas for a quick weekend.

One thing the house needs- a guest house for dedicated sleeping since trying to get more than 4 hours of sleep with multiple toddlers around would be difficult

Ross - I'm a US player. This is what my play money tourney lobby looks like with no filters. I don't see the play money Pokercast Invitational. WTF am I doing wrong

I couldn't find the 2-7 on a Mac a couple of weeks ago.

I can always find it on my iPad.

I was able to bring this up on the Mac using, Tools, Find, A Tournament. It doesn't show up anywhere else on the Mac or PC.

Really enjoyed Shaun Deeb. +1000 for whoever said, "get a nanny for the trip". Happy wife = happy life. VRBO a nice house with a pool. Spend some time with the family. Bring along someone to help with childcare. ez game. Having done this on a couple trips with my mother-in-law, everyone had a great time and loved it. Probably skip the bracelet bets, though. It will cut into your playing time.

Then I get home and read up on yesterday and Dan wins another one. Adam, you realize that even at two you were screwed, right? With 3, he's basically put the competition out of reach. Nice job, Dan. Looking forward to hearing from you on next week's show.

Is it just me but the audio is awful on this episode and single channel only.

Yea audio quality was really bad - even for a remote. But if you listen to PNPod or David Tuchman's pod, the quality sux everywhere. The guys are poker players, not broadcasters so you have to be a little flexible.

I like Shaun Deeb, but I think this was his worst appearance ever. Adam and Terrence let him wander aimlessly into some really uninteresting places. I was disappointed that Shaun mentioned Gus was there playing strange games w unidentified company and there was not further delving into that.

Shaun does seem genuinely involved in thinking about how to make the series better. I like the idea of moving the WSOP to a different time of year, why not? Or is it actually BECAUSE this is one of the worst times of year to be in Vegas that Caesars hosts the WSOP in June-July? Business is down and the WSOP fills the rooms and restaurants?

I'm starting to really question if *telling Jack Effel* ever accomplishes anything? I've never met the man but it seems listening to problems is far more in his job description than actually acting on them.

If Chainsaw was directly responsible for these abhorrent changes in the structures then he should just stfu from here on out. You've used your *one time* buddy. Or he could go work for Alex Dreyfuss (who seems to be hiring *bad* idea men atm).

And yea, a segment on the 2p2 Magazine could be good. I know the *new* content is down in recent years but I try to go there every month and see whats what. Maybe a short (not feature length) interview or strat discussion w one of the authors each month might make for interesting content.

Hey, so hopefully you see this before tomorrow but the way I found it is using "Tabs" instead of "Filters" you can find it using the settings in the tourny lobby on the right side in PS7. Make sure you have PLH as a game selected and it should be there!

Also in regards to the quality... as we say in the end of the show there was an issue with some remote gear that came up out of the blue and we were forced to record on a portable recording device. Obviously we won't be doing that again but between using that and not recording at all we did what we had to do!
