Pokercast 367 - Week 2 WSOP coverage with Remko Rinkema Pokercast 367 - Week 2 WSOP coverage with Remko Rinkema

06-10-2015 , 12:35 AM
Episode #367 - June 9th, 2015

Live from the Two Plus Two Studios - This week on the Pokercast: With Terrence (on skype) down in Vegas, Adam invites friend and former CEO of PokerNews Robbie Davie into the studio to guest host. The WSOP is in full swing and there are some very interesting stories emerging this week from Vegas. The top story this week in "In Case You Missed It" is the allegation of cheating by a player in the $10k heads-up event. There is 1 guy who has been investigating this story more than anyone else and that man is reporter and former guest host of the Pokercast from Macau, Remko Rinkema. Remko joins the 4 of us for an in depth discussion about the scandal and what is being done about it. Adam also runs down the results and stories from the rest of the events at the Rio, such as Hellmuth's 14th bracelet. Other stories covered are: Controversy about a change in tournament structures at the series, WSOP dealers are unhappy about pay cuts, A rare piece of Stu Ungar memorabilia sold on Ebay and Eskimo Clark passing away. After the break the guys respond to a bunch of your mail and Steve Day joins us once again to talk about Pokerstars' summer promotions including a party with Daniel Negreanu in Toronto we are planning to attend! In the final segment, since we have poker reporting expert Robbie Davie in studio, the guys get into the controversial change to the WSOP reporting this year and the history and reasons behind that. Then Adam reviews some hands from Ross in "The Rossco Report". Stay tuned for an ending to the show unlike any other, and listen for the password and format to another WSOP themed Pokercast Invitational in the show.

I was amused by the comment about dealers making more than a school teacher because one of the dealers at Hustler used to be an elementary school teacher.

Stupid cop, everyone knows there's no speed limit if you're 12

That's the fastest I've ever finished an episode. It usually gets spread out over a few days during my commute, but I put it on while grinding low stakes OE on Bovada last night.

Yay. My first shoutout in the show, and ended up having two in the end as it was my hand vs Galen Hall. Back in the UK now having made 10th in the 3pm DDS on my last day. JJ<A5.

Hell of a trip but a shame not to be around for when Adam arrives.

First thought was "many zeros".

Still listening..got so tilted w all the noise behind Remko. I swear it sounded like intermittent use of a soda machine.

The *poor* WSOP - if this is the way they deal with a very *serious* possibility of cheating, it's hard to imagine why they dont just take all the buyins over to Russ Hamiltons house for safekeeping until time to payout. They seem totally ill prepared for very obvious threats to the integrity of the game.

(1) this guy has a history of cheating ON THE RECORD. red flags and sirens should go off immediately just when he tries to enter an event.

(2) marking of cards - would it be such a big deal to just tag and bag the decks for 72 hrs before giving them out for use elsewhere? Seems some sort of statutory time might be fair to deal with any possible claims. If youve got a gripe, you have 72hrs otherwise forget it.

(3) invisible ink and special glasses - this stuff is sold ON A WEBSITE. Anyone, incl WSOP security, can buy it. Are you telling me the WSOP doesnt have a few sets of those lens already in the security safe to check out situations like this in case there's a question? Shouldnt someone on WSOP security (on day 2 AFTER the allegations) been close by with these glasses ON checking for possible marking during play? wtf?

Think I'll go to the soda machine.

LOVED the ending of the show!

Coca's story is very interesting. I love how good poker players, when putting their minds together, can feel out someone who might be cheating. This would make for a very interesting field test. Easiest in a heads-up format, MTTs being the big test.
Good to hear from Terrance, he wasn't a big part of the show this week. Just felt like some fam was missing.
The last-longer bet in the collosus is such an insane occurrence.
Robbie and his poker news background was interesting.
Rosco, your rambo-like desperation bluff on the Kd river was funny. Might take in some serial sometime.
Adam, end of show was a classic, hilarious. U know what would happen to me if i didn't finish my job and left work early?!! lmao

Does the play money tourney still run? Can't find it in the private tab
06-14-2015 , 11:44 AM
Thanks for the early release. It really is appreciated.

I'm in real money game but also can't find the play money. Play money you seriously have to reduce to 1k to get more players. I spent 30 minutes getting to 4k then shoving my AA to get called by 85s last week. Never again and I sure as hell ain't gonna spend cash in purchasing play money chips (or risk getting banned for chip dumping as a kind 2p2er was gonna do for me)

Awesome skit and the end of the episode . Keep up the good work!!

Enjoyed each of Robbie's "low hanging fruit" suggestions for WSOP reporting. Every single one.
06-17-2015 , 07:35 PM
Oh, and while I get that Robbie is taking the high road about how WSOP.com's reporting isn't THAT bad, it doesn't really excuse stuff like this (emphasis mine):

Quote:
Hand #73 - Split Pot

Asi Moshe raises to 2,000,000 from under the gun, and Christian Rodriguez moves all in from the cutoff. Moshe asks for an exact count, which is 6,600,000. Moshe calls, and the players table their cards.

Moshe: KJ
Rodriguez: JJ

The board runs out 7753T, and the players split the pot.

Asi Moshe - 21,000,000
Christian Rodriguez - 7,600,000
