Pokercast 351 - The 2015 WSOP schedule preview, Ivey wins another $250k challenge and more!

Live from the Two Plus Two Studios - This week on the Pokercast: The guys had to unexpectedly miss the show last week, so there’s 2 weeks worth of poker stories to cover and we try to get to all of them! The big story this week is the introduction of new events at this years World Series, aside from “The Colossus” there are more turbo events, a $25K PLO and many more brand new bracelet events to look forwards to. Adam and Terrence preview all of them, which ones are more +ev than others and which ones are just their personal favourites. In other tournament news, Adam and T Chan review the WPT Fallsview and the strange occurrences that happened there such as the chip leader at the final table being taken away in handcuffs and blinded off, and satellite winners selling their seats at absurdly high markup. Over in EPT Deauville the guys address the controversy of the Men who played the Womens event, and the man who eventually won said event. Phil Ivey is back cashing cheques in Australia as he takes down yet another $250k Challenge and Paul Phua wins the $100k event in ridiculous fashion. Other stories covered in “In Case You Missed It” are the issues surrounding Pokertube.com and their violation of intellectual property rights, Eric Lindgren being sued by Rational Group for $2 Million in unpaid debts and Pokerstars parts ways with Vanessa Rousso. Paul Phua shows up in the news again as a judge throws out evidence in his case involving an illegal sports betting ring in Vegas last year where the FBI posed as IT repair guys to gather evidence against him in his hotel. Also Ziigmund is back and getting angry in the chat after taking some beats and losing a lot of money to Ike Haxton in a hilarious high stakes chat log which prompts the guys to review Ross’ most recent live PLO session. As the guys move on to 140 or less, Adam has a bone to pick with one Doyle Brunson as he makes some more than insensitive comments on twitter regarding his views on sexual identity, they also review some listener tweets and one from Pokerstars’ Lee Jones. Lee then joins us from Pokerstars HQ to talk about a live poker trend that he hates and what’s been going on at Stars including the online gaming awards in London. As the show comes to an end Adam answers the Mail Bag and some shout outs are shouted out. Don’t forget the password and format to the Pokerstars Invitational is hidden within the show!

A quick question about the bounty tournament discussion you were having: Terrance said that in a normal tournament there is an incentive to not bust opponents where you have a financial interest in them, but that the bounty provides you with an incentive to bust them. If that's the case, surely the bounty tournament contains both incentives which, unless one is dramatically larger than the other, ought to cancel each other out to some extent. Doesn't that make the bounty tournament LESS liable to collusion than a regular tournament, not more?

I just screamed "yes!" in public because I saw iTunes had the new ep available. Try not to let it go two weeks again. . .

The Colossus only has 40 minute levels during day one, so, extra chips and levels is not adding much.

Hi guys, starved of my weekly Pokercast, I just gulped down the first 30 minutes and loved it.

GTO - Surprised when Terrence thought that the 'angry' question was a good one in 20 questions. Terrence's rationale, if yes it will narrow the answer down within 3 questions. Is it not GTO to divide the field in half? And if so, does this mean that the app researchers have worked out that 50% of top poker players get angry. I'd say, probably close to the mark.

WSOP - You guys were a great advert for the new WSOP events. I knew the schedule was out but hadn't looked at it as I had no intention of going. I must say, listening to you has made me want to make the trip again. Especially when Ross is so keen. You gotta take him Adam !

MJ-Bucks - When looking at the WSOP payouts, can I propose using MJ-Bucks? MJ-Bucks reflect the increased utility of min-cashing, or making a million. The flatter structure at both the bubble and the final table surely maximise the MJ-Bucks, which means that it is great for the recreational player. Agree MJ?

Also guys I started a thread Is just playing the WSOP satellites profitable? in NVG http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29...table-1508711/
Maybe you could find a guest you could talk about this topic.

Hahahaha this is great.

However, Adam and Terence would never hear the end of it from Chainsaw, who would insist on calling this Kessler Kash.

I'm pretty sure the App you were talking about is the "Akinator". It's been out for a while.

PokerCast funny moment: the joke about playing at a 9man cash table and a guy leaves "hey!! hey! floorman, get another guy over here.. stat! down to 8!" lol

Somebody came out with a 20-Questions app and called it "Akinator"?

There is some irony about claiming a WSOP bracelet isn't important, after spending an hour talking about the WSOP

A lot of us feel a bracelet is a good measuring stick for tournament poker success, and hate to see the WSOP become tarnished, with lots of gimmicky-type tournaments ($777 and online events), and low buy-in tournaments.

I know I sound like the grumpy old man not wanting change, but the WSOP has always seemed special, and I'd love to see it stay that way. If adding more bracelet events (and cheesy events), doesn't dilute the tournament's prestige, then why not lower the buy-in to $100 and have the Rio run bracelet events 365 days a year?

Now get off my lawn.

Recreational players love six max. More action.

In defence of Falls Creek. Congrats on putting on such a popular event with a price point and structure that recreational players are willing to pay an 80% premium. Terrence suggested that they should manage supply and demand by upping the price. I hope that they don't.

Our Sydney-monopoly casino The Star runs a few Tournament Series' and the Opening Event is always a $330 buy in, 3-Day, 3-flight with a great structure. The Friday flight is always massively oversubscribed. Tickets aren't transferrable. Answer, if you want to be guaranteed a seat, pre-register. The Star has provided this great value Tourney for years and it creates a lot of excitement for all the pub players who then come back during the year for the occasional cash game donation.
