Personally I don't think it is an influence but luckily we don't have ready access to guns in the UK so it's a moot point.
A few days ago I discovered
"Castle Crashers" at work. So I bought it at my house for myself and my 4 year old to play. It's full of cartoon violence, but no worse than I grew up with looney tunes, tom and jerry, and whatever else.
The game is rated "teen" which is kinda crazy.
TEEN
Content is generally suitable for ages 13 and up. May contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling and/or infrequent use of strong language.
MATURE
Content is generally suitable for ages 17 and up. May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
There's a weird middle ground between these two ratings.
