Kids Playing "Call of Duty" Kids Playing "Call of Duty"

I love playing Call of Duty multiplayer online, make some friends...hook up on a nightly basis and go to town. But I'm 25 yrs. old and here in the states you've got to be 17 yrs. old to even buy the game. I stand by the rating M (for mature) n having to be 17 to buy the game since there are plenty of people that will cuss a little kid out for camping or using a noobtube.. yeah call of duty can inspire kids to be patriot n join the service but parental discretion is advise...some little kids are no strangers to cuss words but here is the parents decision

Its an 18 (age) certificate in the UK and Ireland. I think 9 is probably too young to be playing CoD, Nintendo possibly a better option for that age range - my lad's 15 and he's never played FPSEU games

when I was growing up (I'm 27) no one ever paid attention to the age ratings on a computer game, shops would let you buy whatever you wanted

I'm such an old fogey with video games, I was playing the 'God of War' collection on my PS3 and was aghast when their were bewbs. So much so I called my wife: "holy crap, come in here, there are bewbs in video games now!"

I would be much worried about my child wanting to go kill people for real by joining an army than playing an Xbox

In that case, allow me to point you in the direction of the Leisure Suit Larry collection.

I don't remember those having nudity. I remember LSL 1-6 as a horny teenager.

Also, nudity and computer games are a given. My dismay was over nudity on a console.

There's an archive of C64 8-bit nudity here.. (NSFW obv.)

The LSL game where he goes back to school (I think it's actually Larry's nephew) has plenty of nudity, especially near the end if you complete enough of the little side tasks.

Right. I think that was his Nephew or something. I remember reading about the 'reboot'.

My niece just start playing gtav. I can't believe my little brother lets her. She wears turtle beach headset and everything. She is smart as heck but she doesn't need to hear that stuff at age 7.

My 2 daughters have always had open access to games. They naturally gravitated to less realistic war games such as Halo and Mass Effect. My youngest loved watching me play Skyrim when she was 6-7 years old and I didn't have a problem with it.
Personally I don't think it is an influence but luckily we don't have ready access to guns in the UK so it's a moot point.

A few days ago I discovered "Castle Crashers" at work. So I bought it at my house for myself and my 4 year old to play. It's full of cartoon violence, but no worse than I grew up with looney tunes, tom and jerry, and whatever else.

The game is rated "teen" which is kinda crazy.

TEEN
Content is generally suitable for ages 13 and up. May contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling and/or infrequent use of strong language.

MATURE
Content is generally suitable for ages 17 and up. May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

There's a weird middle ground between these two ratings.

A moot point? So you accept the possibility that desensitizing your kids to violence may make them want to kill someone... because its kinda hard to get a gun?

But even still I think this is a straw man. No one really thinks your kid is going to shoot up a school because she saw it on a video game. The problem is that it blurs the lines between reality and fantasy and gives kids an unrealistic depiction of death and crime without consequence before they are able to fully comprehend it.

hhaha you're not the only one who really love this game. Me too, and take note I'm 33 but I have friends who love to play and they're 35 or something. I also love to play with younger people, it shows up the childheart in me.
