Re: How did the players choice event go?

I think the tournament was a great success. It got 27 runners, which I think was solid given that there were less US players at the PCA, and all tournaments were down 25-30% from last year.

Those that I talked to during the tournament thought it was a lot of fun, and there the idea of starting it up as a cash game was even thrown around. I had a good discussion with Marcel Luske about the game before the tournament started, and he was very excited about the strategy implications of the game, but didn't end up playing as he had promised someone he would play Rivers, which started an hour after this.

The play of the tournament also went much more smoothly than even I expected. The dealers did a great job of picking up the new format quickly, and seemed to genuinely enjoy dealing the game.

As for the actual game play, there seemed to be a good balance between the 5 games. At my table holdem and razz were probably picked the most, with 7 card stud h/l, being picked the least.

Sadly, I wasn't able to cash in this, but I did jump into the Rivers right after (also a crazy game) and made the final table of that.

Re: How did the players choice event go?

I enjoyed it for the most part. Fun to play, with interesting strategy throughout.
The final table was soured a bit by the antics of one guy who i assumed was on something, tilting over standard hands and varience, and generally being abrasive to dealers and players, which imo put a dampener on what was effectively a "fun event".
Not to take anything from the event itself, it was well run, well dealt and i'd definatly play it in the future.
Well done to peter for tid, he probably played the best from what i saw and deserved it.

Nice work RC. Congrats on hosting event. In someways I'm glad I didn't win as I would have missed out on a lucky time for my family here in Seoul. My kid just got kinda famous and will be on a tv show. Press conference and filming and fan blogs appearing, it's nuts.
