After this bracket, I've now watched clips of literally every single comedian in this competition (including all the play-in rounds!).
In this particular bracket, I'm taking Rock and Dangerfield. I'm still astonished that the powers that be in this competition forced Dangerfield to play into the competition when he's undeniably a legend of standup comedy, but so be it. I'm confident that the conclusion of this first bracket will prove me right.
That aside, I really hated voting against Gervais. There were so many other brackets where he would have earned my vote, but against Rock and Dangerfield, he's just outgunned.
Of course, my voting against Gervais is part of the ripple effect from the mis-seeding of Dangerfield; because Dangerfield was marked as a "play-in," he ended up in the slot for a #4 seed in this bracket, which made the entire bracket much stronger than if someone more deserving of a #4 seed was placed in that slot instead.
Doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things, of course, but it's still fun to think about how these small decisions can certainly cast ripples beyond the point of that decision!
