Carlin was good and appealed to many, but Pryor was a ground-breaker and catalyst to many of the upcoming young black. You always seem to hear some comedian naming Pryor as the reason they went into comedy, but seldom hear cutting edge comics list Carlin.
I voted Pryor not only for his material and cutting edge style, which stirred many, but for his impact on society, on others, and ofc lighting hizzelf on fire!
Carlin was a funny dude with quite the following, but I believe Pryor to more important to comedy overall. I think he goes down as well though...
