I don't believe it was officially stated anywhere (though I could be wrong), so I just wanted to confirm that this was a snake draft (and not an auction draft). I didn't participate last year, so I wasn't sure...

Just to be clear, I created a new league because it was much easier than changing all the participants from last year etc.

Two week playoffs (less variance)
Week 14/15 Semis
Week 16/17 Finals

Sounds good only thing I would recommend is to try and have playoffs finished so we aren't playing the championship in wk17. Lots of starters don't play and a lot of meaningless games at that point so it isn't necessarily good for fantasy.

But I will go with whatever the majority wants.

Why not do semis on 1 week (wk14) and finals on 2 weeks (15,16) then? Best of both world imo. Because it's true, wk17 there are often sitouts, and those sitouts can be pretty good players (obviously on pretty good teams).

Imagine in the past taking Manning or Brady in their prime, they ride you to the finals and they sit out the final week!? Really?

i'm fine with either 12 or 14 teams. having 14 teams is kind of nice because it requires a bit more skill to find those diamonds in the rough...

as for the playoff scenario, i agree that we should leave Week 17 out of the equation. it would just be totally unfair to have to account for sit-outs.

Yeah, that's just how it was set up last year. I highly doubt ESPN will allow a 1 week first round and a 2 week 2nd round of the playoffs, so we could always have 6 teams make the playoffs with byes for the top two teams.

And unless we get someone dropping into the thread today, we will likely be a 12 teamer this year.

We could set it up like this as I have this in my other espn league...

13 regular season games
7 teams make playoffs
Top team gets the bye
round 1 of playoffs starts week 14 (between the other 6 playoff teams)
round 2 week 15 (remaining 4 teams)
finals week 16 (championship)

Payouts are fine from last year. Didn't do the math but assume Pope converted for a 12 team league down from a 14, as their will obv be 200 less in the pot.

If we are going 12, I prefer 6 teams go to playoff with too 2 getting byes, and just 1 week rounds ending in week 16. But ultimately cool with whatever

I didn't ratio it based on last years, because I didn't want the minimum payouts to be less than $100.

We should finalize playoffs and do draft order soon.

I really liked the two week playoffs last year even though I lost. What about this:

If we have 12 teams, do 11 week round robin. 6 teams advance. Week 12 is 3 v 6 and 4 v 5 with bye for 1 and 2 (w/l with pts as tiebreaker)

Week 13/14 is 1 v lowest seed and 2 v highest seed
Week 15/16 championship

This way we eliminate divisions and the variance of who is in which division. We eliminate the variance of playing certain more than once and not others. We eliminate week 17 but still have the two week playoffs

draft order will be randomized by espn like 2 hrs before draft. Interesting playoff idea, im concerned it looks like a long postseason though, and cuts 2 weeks out of a what a normal season would look like.
