If everyone was happy with payment turnaround times last year, I'd likely be willing to escrow.
04-24-2013 , 12:18 AM
I think we need to make changes to the categories. There were many players that ended up getting picked by everyone

Hopefully AW pops in -- I'm not capable of running the player side of things.

Leaguesafe.com looks like it will make my life easier. Still exploring this.

I hope AW comes in too, but I wouldn't mind doing all the spreadsheet work and updating the standings etc if Johnny or someone else would deal with the money side of things.

I agree with this. Some of the categories lead to a single obvious choice. I think that the categories should be left more open to lead to a wider variety of teams. Plus the age of many players is difficult/impossible to determine.

What about something as open as this:

4 players from the Americas (USA, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, South America)
3 players from Europe
2 Rest of world players
1 player who hasn't won a bracelet
1 former november niner or ME Winner
1 free choice player

It makes the same team size as previous years and leaves a lot more choice for teams.

What do others think?

Also people who don't really have anything to add beyond "Yes I'd be interested in participating" are welcome to post in this thread.

WSOP is only about a month away!!!
04-24-2013 , 06:14 PM
yes, i'd be interested in participating.

Hi folks,

While you're contemplating how to run your WSOP league, please keep the GPI's Fantasy Poker Manager Facebook App as your solution.

We will be announcing details on special "WSOP Leagues" shortly - this way, you could setup your own private league and let the app automatically take care of yours stats.

This would require a few adjustments from the way you ran things last year (salary cap, # of players) but since you're still in the process of ironing out the details, it may be beneficial to keep FPM in mind.

I am including a link to our official 2+2 thread for the 2+2 Forum FPM League (which you can all feel free to join):

If you have any questions, feel free to send us a PM here or you can e-mail us at fpm@zokay.com

Have a great WSOP!
Eric

I'll definitely participate again this year, and I agree the categories should be discussed and tweaked a little.
04-26-2013 , 12:57 PM
Hi gang,
Sorry to be MIA - I would be happy to get one going again. I'd like some feedback on two things:

1. Categories
2. Should we use a more formal system?
04-26-2013 , 02:24 PM
I think the system from last year was fine, but would go with the flow if people want to change it for something more formal.

As for the categories I suggested:

4 players from the Americas (USA, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, South America)
3 players from Europe
2 Rest of world players
1 player who hasn't won a bracelet
1 former november niner or ME Winner
1 free choice player

What do people think about it?
04-26-2013 , 03:36 PM
What about:

1 player that has never played an event before and that no one has ever heard of, including yourself.

Basically you make up a random name and see if your "John Smith", "Bob White", or "Chris Johnson" wins.
04-28-2013 , 06:12 AM
please count me in, whatever the rules

I do like xander biscuits ideas, my version of it would look like this

2 Players from North America (USA, Canada)
2 Players from South America (Mexico, Caribbean, South America)
2 Players from Asia, Australia
2 Players from Europe, Russia
2 Players who hasn't won bracelets and have under $1 million in tournament winnings
1 WSOP Main Event Champion
04-28-2013 , 06:22 AM
I think just 2 from USA/Canada is too few. By far the majority of participants in the WSOP are from these countries and the fantasy team should reflect it.

I thought of that, but my reasoning was that people can squeeze bunch of US players in the players who haven't won bracelets, past WSOP champions, and many US players with other heritage like scotty nguyen and johnny chan who could maybe fall in the Asia players
04-28-2013 , 07:46 AM
I can see where you're coming from and agree with you to some extent, but I'd like some more people's opinions and then I think everyone can agree to go with the majority verdict.

Your team has 11 players when last year's had 12. You could maybe nudge the US/Canada players up to 3?

i like these categories. replacing the "free choice" with something like 21 year old (or wsop rookie) is a thought.
how about just excluding ivey and hellmuth since 95% will select them? it would go a long way towards diverisifying selections .
04-29-2013 , 02:51 AM
I think the problem with an age restricted category is that many players are not confirmable, but I would be happy to change that free choice to something different for sure.

Again I don't see a problem with letting everyone pick hellmuth and ivey if they want to (it might reward the one or two people that go a different root), but if that's what everyone else wants then I'd happily go along with it.

Will promote this on tonight's show if I can remember.

I will escrow both funds, and AW's picks.

I'm looking into a few options RE: payments.
05-01-2013 , 12:19 PM
I'm in and can definitely live with those categories.

I will ship the $20 and PM my picks as soon as a payment system is decided upon

(I have paypal and stars as options of payment).

I really like the hard and fast rule of 'Hendon Mob nationality counts'
I'm a little wary about proving the age of some players. I am not sure I can do it in some cases. Does anyone know a website that will likely have the ages of players that have no DOB on the Hendon Mob?

Other than that I think it's great Looking forward

If it proves to be too difficult we can address it, but the over 40 wasn't tough in years past.
05-01-2013 , 03:58 PM
We need to make sure when looking at players POY numbers, that we are EXCLUDING any points they earned in Australia. Many players like Ivey and Negreanu, who won bracelets will be starting the Vegas series with a bunch of points in the bank already so might be wise to print up a current list of POY points so it's easy to calculate for those players who earned pts at WSOP-APAC.

Sounds like a great idea, I'll be in when the kinks are ironed out and if paypal is accepted. Cheers. Subbed.
