Can you please confirm that John Juanda is an American player?
It's a close race. I knew that not getting Juanda would come back to haunt me.

It's been a fun WSOP so far this year. Good luck to everyone in the home stretch!

Great plan. Everyone who did it this year and didn't pick Hellmuth, Ivey and Selbst has been out of the running weeks ago

But there is still room for unique picks. That said, with the number of people we had come out, there will be some changes next year to ensure more diversity.

The thing is, there is a finite number of great poker players who will come to mind when people are picking. Making more categories might just make lists even more similar.

There is plenty of scope for diversity and wildly different lists

Much moreso than other fantasy sports.

Sure, there is room for unique picks. But looking at the top 10 teams, everyone has the same 3-5 players. So it's like it doesn't even matter that you picked them.

I'm keeping track of the top 5 teams just see who I need to root for / against. Everyone had Ivey, Hellmuth, Selbst and Elky. So Selbst's win this week, Hellmuth's One Drop FT or Elky's top 2 stack at the Championship event doesn't matter because we all get the same points.
Even having Mercier, Greenstein or Negreanu doesn't do you any good because 4 out of 5 teams at the top have them.

Maybe we should make a rule that a your team's last year POY points total can't exceed xyz. This way it's like an auction type draft. You can't fill your roster with all the A+ players. Phil Ivey will cost you a lot so you have to fill the rest of your team with C or D players. Or you go with a team full of B players etc.

I have seen this on other fantasy sports sites but if you do this then there should be no restriction to the categories. It should be one or the other imo.

Even though they give out a bracelet, pretty sure The championship event is not considered part of POY race. Doubt points will be given.

I dont really see it exactly that way bc a team could have players like John Monnette, Andy Frankenberger etc etc - very unique picks - and be throttleing everyone else.

Thing is, no one chose those players.

When you play a big pool you have to have the team with ALL the top finishers, popular or not.

How many 'nuts' teams are there out there can were available, for anyone to choose, that will beat this years winner? any guesses? 10? 20? maybe 50?

An interesting question, I'd take the over on 50 and maybe even >100.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Would be a bit overhead for both restrictions...

Sure, it's easy to be the "Monday Morning Quarterback" and picking John Monnette and Andy Frankenberger, but that's like choosing JTs over AKo just because the flop came 987 last time.

You want to stick with players who you think play the most events and are most likely to rack up some major points.

The fact is that Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey and Vanessa Selbst (for woman and also overall) have been crushing the WSOP in past years, are crushing this year and turn you into dead money if you haven't picked them for your fantasy team.

Don't get me wrong .. I will still play next year even if the format stays the same. I just think that it would be way more fun if there aren't any obvious picks and 80% of the teams don't have the same 3-4 players.

Re: 2012 WSOP Fantasy League

Think I made 6th place according to the spreadsheet, but think I'm missing some points from Jose Nadal, Moorman and Cody, not like they will put me into 1st 3 spots, but def in2 4th, and that will make me feel proud..., does anybody know where I can check the points for all players (outside the top 500)???
