How often do u 4bet a standard tag in the blinds' 3bet to your late position raise since nowadays it seems its pretty popular for the blinds to 3bet late position opens?
Vs 3-bets: I'm fairly tight OOP and much looser IP. Also depends on what position I raised from. If I raised from UTG I'll play tighter vs 3-bets, etc...

I 4-bet sometimes in LP situations. You should have a balanced 4-betting range and should always know whether you're 4-betting for value or bluffing. Don't 4-bet a medium hand and then wonder if you should call a shove.

Don't overadjust. Don't think everyone is trying to make moves on you just cause it's a higher level. Back when I moved up from 100NL to 200NL I made a lot of bad calldowns. Don't go out of your way to outplay other regs, but don't back down.

I don't know enough about this whole situation to give a good answer.

I've only been a member here for a few months and I only play live...still you've definitely helped my game out.

How often do you play live and where? Do you ever consider playing 2-5 or 5-10 live for extended periods? When I go down to the Borgata, the 2-5 and 5-10 games look action-packed with plenty of chips floating around.

Live poker makes we want to gouge my eyes out. I can't stand the 20x drop in hands per hour.

Can you recommend a good poker training site to join? (for full ring)

Do you have or have you had a coach to help you improve your game?

If you were to give a rating (1 to 10) on the general advice given in the micro and small-high full ring forum, what would it be?

Thanks for Welling....

How do you handle being OOP with an overpair to the flop?

assume 100BB

CO raises
You reraise in BB with QQ
CO calls

Flop J72r
Turn T

Villain is good TAG. Villain is bad TAG. Floater. Villain is a station. (Include a list of other variables that are HUD numbers you use. Think multitable on 12 fast tables and you are involved with two other hands at the moment. )

What is your playing schedule like? Do you play 12 hour days and then take days off, or play on a set schedule every day? I'm interested in how a pro manages his time.

Who has helped your game the most? (2p2)

Can you think of any ways to combat groupthink?

How often do you check your balance in the cashier window while playing?

What's your avatar?

I dunno say roughly 1 post per day on average = regular.

If you don't dislike anyone, then name the people you don't particularly care for ldo.

I generally don't fold overpairs in RR pots.

Vs frequent floater c/r is always an option, but on that board I might not want to give a free card. I like shoving there actually. You can rep AK/AQ and get hero-called a lot.

Micros - 2/10
This forum - depends on who's giving the advice, could either be good or poor. Average 6/10

I'm not a very good "pro" lol. On days that I play I average maybe 2 hours lol.

I don't like to single guys out, but in general I think Sgt. Jake is mean towards people, especially some of the younger and cockier players. He just seems like a grumpy old dude who takes the internet too seriously.

how much of your skill would you attribute to you just being naturally good at poker and how much would it be from studying the game?

What other hobbies do you have outside of poker?

Any thoughts on my stat posts?... be honest.
04-25-2008 , 03:25 PM
if you could attribute your growth as a player to one thing what would it be...
04-25-2008 , 03:27 PM
1. Describe some good situations for a NL100 or NL200 player to play the turn more aggressively.

2. Was there a "eureka" moment when you changed from a nit into a winning aggressive player?

3. How do you use HUD stats to maximize FE when you raise vs a villain on the turn & river (esp the turn)?

4. If you win lots of monies by being aggressive, what are your top 3 "poker plays" (e.g., attack limpers, 3bet PF OTB, raise cbet, raise turn after flop check) that get: (a) regs; and (b) fish to lay down medium strength hands?

5. what do I need to do to change from being a nit into a better and more aggressive player?

6. are these questions too specific?

I was naturally gifted at math, and there's definitely a link between math and poker ability. I've also worked pretty hard at improving in the last year, so I'm not sure what the percentage split would be between those two factors. I think everyone (barring mental ******ation) can be trained to beat poker at some level, but some people have a lower ceiling than others.

As for hobbies, just check my profile.

I think pretty much everyone below $2/4 will give advice that is too weak-tight at times.

1) Just betting scare cards in general. Sometimes check/raising draws on the turn.
2) I was never a nit. If anything I started out too loose, trying to see too many flops. Playing fewer hands from the blinds was probably my first major adjustment.
3) I'd say I play "by feel" a lot. Stats can be overrated. I use them to give me a general idea of how someone plays, but I don't rely on them too much.
4) Hmm my top 3 plays. I'd say I bluff-catch very well, especially versus bad players. I'm very good at figuring out when they missed. People generally don't life to fold vs me, so I look for different lines to maximize value. I'm good at extracting value from marginal hands when I think I'm ahead.
5) Raise more preflop?
6) Nah, they're too general if anything hehe.

what do I need to do to become a better player post-flop?

Force yourself to play looser, and learn from experience. You may play badly at first, but if you never try you'll never learn.
