I play in a live $2/$3 game. I had some less that ideal turns and rivers that had my Stack at $44. I understand, the proper thing would have been to add-on before I reached a 14/bb stack, but at that was not an option.

The table is fairly straight forward.

Villain 1- UTG new to the table only seen about 9 hands, seems to be fairly solid player. I had the feel he was playing, waiting for a bigger game to open.

Villain 2- UTG+1Decent LAG player, has called down with KQo to out draw JJ on river, and bluffed rive with a 57o in a 3 bet pot.

Villain 3- UTG+2Old man, straight forward TAG player

All 3 villains called and the other players folded to me. I looked down at JJ with $44 about 14/bb. I thought about 2 plays. The 1st was to go all in, hope to pick up the $13 in the pot.
The 2nd was to call the $3 and see the flop. If the action was checked to me make a $10 bet, if there was an over card on the board, and I got called, check and hope for show down. If there was an over card and someone leads, fold.

I decided to push all in, $13 at that point was going to increase my stack by about 30% and with the action I didn't feel I was behind anyone in the pot, and the other players would have to pick up AA KK QQ or maybe AK(probably not, every one was fairly tight), and $44 isn't giving the right price to call with a lower pair, or Ax or Kx so I think.

Action folded to Villain 1 who thought for about 2 min and called, everyone else folded.

He ended up flopping 2 pair and scooping the pot.

Looking back obviously play #2 would have been the better option. But is that the correct play? or was my thinking correct, and this is just the deck not liking me.

Thank you for your insight.

Imho shoving jacks is the right choice with your stack everytime.

Don't need a break down of opponents with that hand/action/stack. Your Plan B option is EXTREMELY bad. Your play was the right play.

Shove 100% of the time with that stack size, given how low it is they might be inclined to call with a bigger range, worst case scenario (if they didn't limp QQ+) would be a flip which is still fine for you here. I should also add, if you can't add more money it is probably better to quit for the day instead of playing with a 14bb stack

Would raising to 9-10 dollars make sense. And if he gets 3bet than shove? Or make the raise with the intent to shove flop? Just curious in finding better ways to get value from JJ while short stacking.
