i agree with this. it's not like some fish will see this and think omg this twackle guy is scum. and i doubt some random scrub can come in and say hey i tried to start tables with d_smith today and he grimmed me 4 times. unless he's a shortstacker and it actually happened and we all get to laugh at him

whatever then. aljufo is "wrong" and you are "right." maybe from now on we should all defer to you next time there is any doubt, since, clearly, you are a better judge than aljufo, right? what else is scummy? what about slowrolling? what about using PTR while playing? talking **** to fish? paying someone for their seat when scout is at the table? database sharing? datamining? partaking in strategy groups where you discuss other players' tendencies? softplaying a friend? staking someone that plays in your games? please, tell us which of these things are scummy and to what degree so that we may correct our behaviors.

this thread is stupid. we know what the site rules are. just FYI, Stars has an entire department dedicated to determining if people are cheating. if you see someone breaking the rules, ****ing send them an e-mail. oh yeah, and they have all the data and infinite ways to parse it. and they've been shown to ban/confiscate money from cheaters. so what is the problem?

if someone is NOT breaking the rules, get the **** over it or complain to stars about the rules. ****ing easy.

let's analyze this situation:

listen carefully to my analysis.

is twackle cheating or breaking rules? no, so aljufo can **** off. if he had been, send an e-mail to security@pokerstars.com or whatever. with evidence, if you have any. they are far better equipped to deal with cheating.

see how easy that was?

i did NOT say that because something is "allowed" it means that i condone it and/or think it's right/good. i'm just opposed to pitchfork-wielding villagers putting people on trial for arbitrary offenses, if you get my drift. whatever though, since i'm the minority, have fun and all.

Re: *** The Scum Reg Guide ***

It's not a trial at all though, that implies punishment. For the most part, 2p2 is pretty liberal with allowing people to say what they want. Regular players are simply using this board as a place to tell fellow regs about activities they consider scummy. If some players think fake table starting is fine and some think it's unethical, what's wrong with simply allowing someone to post that "player x fake table started" and then some people think he's engaging in unethical activities and some people think he's fine? Like I could see your point if there was any punishment whatsoever associated with your name being posted here but as long as people stick to the facts and just say what happened and why they think it's scummy then there can be free and open discussion on the ethics of some actions and people can decide for themselves whether an accusation has any merit at all.

Yay most hate filled thread on 2+2. right where to start...

+1

But disagree that a thread like this can't serve a purpose, I really think a thread outing grimmers, people sitting out when fish do etc that warns regs of these people is a positive for a lot of the regs in this forum.

List post numbers that we keep and I will delete the rest.

OP---- if you want to edit your first post, either PM me or post it here and I will c/p.

And yeah, I have held off pm'ing you until i had a clearer idea of the best way to proceed. At the moment, I think that involves deleting this thread and starting a new one where such as the one i described previously (read below) which should reduce the problem of people having to apply common sense to the situation (since now these "scummy" esq acts should be easily defined).

And although trying to prise a fish away from the table is probably not against tos, we can add these douchebags in for good measure. To avoid it being abused we can just make a rule to post with evidence or get infracted etc. I don't know whether that would appease people or not.
This could sort out a lot of the problems that are occurring in this thread.

that's great, but this is not what this thread is or will become. for starters, you'd want to name it something other than "the scum reg guide," which gives the impression that everyone that is called out as being scum is scum itt.

if what you described is what you want, you must be careful that the thread doesn't become breeding ground for conflict, defamation, and slander. step 1 is NOT naming your thread "the scum reg guide." right?

Re: *** The Scum Reg Guide ***

who is this noob with 16 posts saying that this thread was named inappropriately? Tbh i hoped the thread wouldn't deteriorate into **** flinging, that failed. If i was to start this again i would do it differently, I don't think that the title is the main problem with this though. It was an act to try and out the scummy regs who play with us day in and day out. These are people who's actions many of us call scummy when chatting to other players on skype etc, it shouldn't make that much of a difference if their names are posted here as warning to others. The title is fine, however the grey areas should be removed (so names that get posted here have actually done something which many consider scummy such as grimming (ie not fake table starting)) and hh's/screenshots should be a must.
