I would be happy for anything from $1/$2 (min $100 max $200) to $5/$10 (min $500 max $1000), but the best stake for everyone would probably be something like $2/$3 (max $250 buyin). If someone has a poker table & chips I have some decks of cards and a shuffling machine. Also would need chairs, I have a couch, ottoman and bar stools but that's it.
Would be easy to get pizzas delivered from your standard pizza hut/domino's or gourmet pizza's from South Melbourne where you can also get pasta's and salad's home delivered. Also a bottle shop downstairs for convenience. Am happy to hook this up if anyone is keen, would be a good night, my apartment is fairly small but have great views of the city out one side and the harbour from the other, aswell as balcony for any smokers and close to crown, city, other nightspots for after

my msn messenger addy is nickgaskin@hotmail.com but do not send emails to this address as I don't ever check it, only use it for msn, can pm me for email address

Hi,
I live in Brizvegas and yesterday I got my second evva Royal, cracking a full-house.

Full Tilt Poker, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 9 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

MP1: $34.15
MP2: $7.15
Hero (CO): $5.25
BTN: $34
SB: $4.40
BB: $5.50
UTG: $24.70
UTG+1: $9.25
UTG+2: $24.75

Pre-Flop: K A dealt to Hero (CO)
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $1, 3 folds, Hero calls $1, 2 folds, BB raises to $5.50 and is All-In, UTG+1 calls $4.50, Hero calls $4.25 and is All-In

Flop: ($16.35) T J Q (3 Players - 1 is All-In)

Turn: ($16.35) T (3 Players - 1 is All-In)

River: ($16.35) A (3 Players - 1 is All-In)

Results: $16.35 Pot ($0.80 Rake)
Hero showed K A (a Royal Flush) and WON $15.10 (+$9.85 NET)
BB showed Q Q (a full house, Queens full of Tens) and WON $0.45 (-$5.05 NET)
UTG+1 showed J A (two pair, Aces and Jacks) and LOST (-$5.50 NET)

Pity we were all shortstacking. LOL.

Is short stacking un-Australian? Discuss.

Something iv kinda noticed is Aussie and UK players on average dont seem to be that good. Dont think iv ever seen a good multi-tabling shortstacking aussie. Seems much more of a eurotrash style.

Any1 else noticed UK players seem to be the worst overall

Hi,

I might go Australia in the autumn for 1 month. Will basically do the tourist things, but eventually end up in a poker room for some days. Besides the famous Crown in Melbourne where do I look for action..?

Each capital city has a casino basically, don't expect the best game structures though.

Short-stacking is recommended (for beginners) in 2plus2 books yet hated by 2plus2 forum snobs.

Discuss why 2plus2 snobs don't understand 2plus2 books!

[Flame=On]
I'm a beginner and I find the 2plus2 forum attitude childish in the extreme. Too many forumites are barely legal kids who like most under 25s think they know everything. Spoilt brats might expect everything their own way but poker players have to deal with reality. If I can tilt someone simply by buying in short, I can't wait to take their money.

As an Australian, I am proudly independent and idiosyncratic. No-one tells me not to short-stack. Sometimes I buy-in full but I prefer to start short until I'm confident about a table. This is also recommended by many pros eg Erik Seidel does this and recommends this. If a table seems juicy I then buy-in full. If it seems bad I leave.

Ergo, it is un-Australian not to encourage free-thinking, independent shortstackers! (By the way, I hate cricket, too!) In my defense I note I support Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Lions.

Even if I buy in full, I don't care if there are one or a few shortstackers/ratholers at my table as, by regularly playing short-stacked, I think it gives me an advantage because I think I understand better how to adapt to their presence than the other full stacks. Seating needs to be right though. Buying in short once per month is recommended by MTTR's 2plus2 shortstacking thread so fullstackers can play better by understanding shortstack strategy.

Shortstacking is part of the game. Poker players who don't like shortstackers reveal more about their own narrowmindedness and inability to play than anything else.

Shortstacking is of course a valid strategy if you play it correctly, I am talking about the donkey shortstackers you always see around that have nfi

Some of the best online pro's in the world short stack at super high stakes

+1, Thks.

I'm a beginner and probably have nfi but I have a lot of respect for 40putts etc that shortstack the high stakes. I've watched them and they win biiiiggg! I suspect there is a lot more skill to high stakes shortstacking than most lower stakes grinders appreciate.

Re: *** Official Aussie Full Ringers Thread ***

Well since I posted the question I guess I should give my own thoughts on the issue. I have no problem with people who short stack, I have tried it myself in the past, but it isn't for me. As a full stacked player do I try and avoid having multiple short stackers at the table? Yes. Do I get annoyed when a good short stacker hits and runs? No. Do I get annoyed when a bad short stacker hits and runs? Of course. But I also get annoyed when a full stack fish hits and runs too.

When I am trying to start full ring tables I'll generally do the 50bb min tables on stars. I generally won't play heads-up/shorthanded against short stackers unless I'm desperate, I really don't see there being that much of an upside.

Do I think short stacking is un-Australian? of course not. The only things I see as un-Australian in poker are un-ethical things like talking about the hand as its in progress, slow-rolling, grimming and all that kind of stuff.
