I just did a rough ICM calculation. If I calculated it correctly then his $EV is approx:
$900k if he folds
$1,300k (+$400k) if he calls and wins
$300k (-$600k) if he calls and loses
So he needs 60% equity to call ($EV-wise.) However there are many other factors to weigh up too, including the probable once-in-a-lifetime chance of him winning this type of money, and the extra value/exposure that actually winning the event would bring.
Probably a good fold from the perspective of all of us in this thread and a bad fold for Ivey (or the opponent, Mike McDonald) and the like.
(He was up against AK BTW)
