Ok, I'm Mac naive. Can you please outline and justify the increased cost, decreased computing power, decreased graphics (no gaming), and time lost due to learning curve (new platform) in the purchase of a macbook pro over say an asus G74SX-RH71 (link:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...718&CatId=3998). From what I'm seeing, I can spend $1,500 and get a decent gaming laptop and poker machine. Or spend $2,500+ (currently priced macbook pro) to get something somewhat close to an equivalent macbook (crappier graphics card, 2/3 the ram, worse harddrive, have to run stars / HEM in VMware fusion...are you kidding me????).
I mean the rumor that it has more resolution is nice, but its just a rumor at this point.....and so what? are you going to sit 3" from the screen to play 24 tables (vs saving 1k on the cost of the macbook pro and buying a 30" dell and hooking that up to the ASUS). Also I don't want to hear that it doesn't get virus', malware. That's not a huge issue for me as I don't spend my days cruising porn (opening self up for meme destruction with this one I know).
Just trying to get an honest informed decision please. My current mobo is dying I think and I need to purchase a new laptop sooner rather than later. Thanks.
