Makes sense, my certified pre owned acura had squeaky as fk brakes. Sold it 1.5 yrs later for ~75% what I paid for it.

Still, I'm in the buy a car with 10-15k miles camp and save $5k+.

I left the good ole usa, didnt sell it to buy a new one. Loved the car. BTW I sold it to the dealer, pretty good value retained imo.

It still has to pass inspections before they can certify it, and they give you extended warranty, so if something goes wrong you don't have to pay for it anyway.

put me in the camp of not spending a ton of money on cars because I need it to punt stacks away when playing live 10/20nl. But seriously just needed something to get me around I drive a bunch drove to casino and back several times/week and it's like 150 miles RT plus going to school and our college town sucks. Been super happy with my certified pre-owned honda civic. It only knocked a couple grand off new price and I actually considered just getting the new but it's been super reliable/awesome/perfect for its intended use so far.

I did a fair amount of car shopping for slightly used cars and found that they really weren't all that much cheaper than new. That thing about them losing 20-25% of their value as soon as you drive them off the lot is a load of bs imo. Might be true for kias, saturns, and daewoos but for everything I was looking at it just wasn't the case.

Just passing along what a friend who has worked at a car dealership for over 10 years told me. Take it for what it's worth I guess

It could vary depending on the dealership. Personally I've never had a problem with my car.

All cars can eventually have problems. Certified pre-owned just means it passed an inspection saying there aren't any major problems that exist currently on the vehicle, which is why you can often purchase a warranty on the vehicle.

My family has also been in the car business for over 70 years, so I only buy vehicles at wholesale dealer cost
