Literally no stats on villain. 2nd hand. Looking for gto/ balance advice/ thought process

Folds to hero in the HJ with KQ who raises to 6 ($300)
Fold
Button calls (covers)
Blinds fold

Flop $15
842

Hero checks, villain checks

Seemed like this was a borderline hand. Have a tiny bit of showdown equity and no bdfd, so i check.

Turn $15
8429

Hero bets $11, villain calls

I need to have some hands to bluff with ott, right?
2 different thoughts:
- KQ doesnt block any flushes /straights, so good candidate to barrel turn and river on blanks?
- I have some 9s, diamonds, gutshots, and set of 8s to play like this. What else? Are these ALL better options?

Please let me know if any of my thought process is off. Thanks!

Delayed cbet makes no sense really - not sure what hand your repping here that you can continue with against a turn raise for instance. The vast majority of the hands you're betting here are going to be semi-bluffs. There's no need to bluff hands with v little equity. Q completes J10 and gives two pair to some combos that can continue from the BB against a HJ raise and that don't three bet.

Suited 9 is good for villain's range, not yours. You have few sets here as played too.

Bet should be to achieve something. Presumably this is to make better hands fold or to deny equity. Turn bet seems to achieve neither. Think I'm either cbetting OTF –*villain dependent – or check folding turn. The BB has more pocket pairs in his range than your HJ range too.

Sizing is too large OTT imo. We're going half pot or less with our value range here – I don't think we're checking a set that often OTF.

Just doesn't seem like an EV+ strategy.

Although I don't think you should have blufs with little or no equity, you could perhaps mix in some straight draw to the nuts where you don't block diamonds –*say Q10 or J10. Both have little equity though, given that we're probably just checking back pairs and diamonds are likely dead. Ace 5 with the Ace of diamonds, so we can overbet/bet larger with flush run-out?

Just don't see the need really to balance value here because you're not being called by worse in this spot too often. I think I'm cbetting half the time here, with no showdown value, or checking down to the river –*OTR I may bet small depending on reads.

As played, I don't think it's disastrous, you can rep a lot of hands on the river and get folds by betting large. He's going to have a pretty condensed range here, bar a river diamond.
