Flush on river vs villans c/s

1st time posting a hand feel free to give me tips on how to post and what stats for villan i should put etc.

http://www.handconverter.com/hands/1851505

villan is 18/15/9.3 reg

Poker Stars $200.00 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

UTG+1: $231.20
UTG+2: $229.39
MP1: $200.00
MP2: $73.26
CO: $200.00
Hero (BTN): $217.22
SB: $266.16
BB: $194.92
UTG: $444.50

Pre Flop: ($3.00) Hero is BTN with A T
6 folds, Hero raises to $4, SB calls $3, BB calls $2

Flop: ($12.00) Q 4 2 (3 players)
SB bets $8.00, BB folds, Hero calls $8

Turn: ($28.00) 9 (2 players)
SB bets $16.00, Hero calls $16

River: ($60.00) 9 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $28.00, SB raises to $238.16, Hero calls $161.22 all in

I no the line looks strong but i cant see why he would bet the turn with 2pair or a set. Also dont see him calling 4s or 2s from sb dont no if other regs do that or not? And QQ would 3bet is my line in thinking.

Re: Flush on river vs villans c/s

One of two things happened here. Either hes bad and bet the turn with a set because he didn't know what else to do with it or hes running some suicidal bluff. If I had to decide, I'd say the former because if he wanted to bluff, I think he would just triple barrel.

I fold. I think lead/lead is pretty good here with a set.

Re: Flush on river vs villans c/s

I dont think villain can really have anything that strictly speaking "makes sense".
He obv is bad at poker. Since we know he is bad at poker it is hard to know what he might have. I think this quality of player could be value shoving KcX or bluffing just as often as over betting with nuts/near nuts.

For me this HAS to come down to a read or you may as well just flip a coin. If you have no reads at all you maybe call and if the dude has you beat just follow him around and win your monies back. Bumb hunt him and get your cash back when you're beat and laugh at him when he's beat. I bet you are good here nearly fifty percent of the time. I would fold because of bankroll but if i had a bigger bankroll I'd call figuring its gonna be about break even long run and the money you lose could be worth it as long as you can just find this dude, sit to his left as often as possible, and get take his bankroll.

So, what did he have???

This benabadbeat, is what a level regarding this hand from me may look like, aka in extreme detail and opposite from correct in every possible way.

Without wishing to correct all of the errors in your post, I will just highlight one: If you believe you're good around 50% of the time (nowhere close by the way) then the significant amount of money already in the pot makes it an easy call, and not a decision based on the flip of the coin.

-------

As Natis said, this is 99. The fact that the villain is supposedly a reg means he could have 44 too, but a fish would never lead the flop here with a set.

Re: Flush on river vs villans c/s

not sure why everyone just assumes this guy has quads here... if he thinks we're capable of folding this, why not turn Qx into a bluff.

also, if BB is fish he probably does flat 44/22 pre, and may do it anyway vs btn mr.

only think that really matters in this spot is how spazzy he is and how likely he'll turn Qx or something into a bluff. I don't think it's the ~40% you need to call here.
