AQ the best of the worst, What is the best way to play it? AQ the best of the worst, What is the best way to play it?

I hate AQ, I always seem to play it reluctantly.

For the most part, I am considering dropping AQ from my range in early position. I hate being in a raised pot out of position, and firing on an Ace high flop only to be called or re-raised (especially against deep stacked opponents). I am debating only playing AQo from late position and AQs from middle and late, and not calling a raise with AQo. Exceptions include calling raises from fish or LAG players that are opening wide, someone playing a shorter stack poorly, or opening AQo middle position when I have fishy or LAG player left to act behind. I simply think there are better spots to get my money in, and want to cap my losses with AQ to 50BB. I am a NIT, which seems to work at my stakes. My approach is to be patient, make as few mistake as possible, and collect chips when others make blunders.

What do you guys think? If I am uncomfortable playing AQ, should I drop it from my early, and often middle position range? Am I being too much of a NIT?

Hi, I'm the resident SSFR Nit and I endorse your proposals. Play it more freely and more often with bad players behind, otherwise there's no shame in binning it early.

Thanks for the input guys. I like hands like AQ when I am pounding the limpers and trying to induce a bad call. I'm debating whether or not to bet the flop and turn on ace high boards if I open from middle/late and get a late position caller. As of now I play it safe, if I get called on an ace high flop. At that point I prepared to call one good size bet on either the turn or the river, but not both. Is playing it safe worth giving villain a free card, specially if the board has draw or two. Against tighter opponents I am comfortable making a small profit after bet on the flop and check check. On the other hand, I feel that I am missing out on value from fish, and letting them catch up.

Min raise it and only c bet it if you get a flop you don't think anyone hit, check call on a wet flop and bet if you hit the ace. No shame in folding it I do it a lot sometime I just go with my gut feeling seeing ace come out 4/5 flops in a row and I don't think it's coming I fold it to a raise sometime and a lot of the time I save $ ( I only really do it when I am having a bad session ). the other day I was in the bb and there was a raise from UTG+2 then a small raise everyone folded to me I had AKs and I was 90 % sure the UTG player had AA it turned out to be AA vs KK saved big. GL with it.

Basically.

It is nit-ring and we are all tighter than a tight c*nt.

Also, we only play 77 and 88 if the table is fishy. If it is full of regs and we are just completing our final lap before sitting out, then 77 and 88 hit the muck too. At a tough table you've got to learn to fold'em.

I have been experimenting limping with AQ from early position. Seems to work alright in passive games. A lot of weak opponents tend to call on a few streets if the pot was not raised. I was mostly getting calls from KQ, QJ, and QT
