This is a bad spot to bluff. Flush missed and the boards paired. The line you took doesn't convey strength so you cant represent a strong hand. When you bet your hand looks exactly like what it is.

But I called the flop and bet the turn, I would play a 9x or 22/33 exactly the same?

There are very few Jacks in your range. A paired board makes it unlikely you have a 9. A flopped set bets bigger at every stage of this hand. If you want to steal don't limp in. Your line looks weak at every step here. The hands you are trying to "represent" would show far more strength on multiple streets.

I think when he calls the turn it means he has a little something. Then, I agree that your line would resemble a busted flush. When you are playing trips that way, it's because you want to look weak.

Sure but you actually have 86s here that had nothing otf. Given that, it's not like your range is mostly value hands. 9x is few combos when it pairs and 22/33 are 6 combos. It's bvb and people are going to call down lighter. Also 9x is a candidate to actually check turn. His play is standard and good. With a different river, your play can be fine but when it pairs and he says ott "I have sdv", it's a bad bluff.

flop is fine, 86s is a decent float with the backdoor flush and straights.

OTT you should bet bigger, make it 6-7 dollars, you can opt to overbet if you do the same with J9/sets here.

OTR it's hard for you to have many good hands, villain has a lot of 9x, probably a bad river to bluff, I think you should continue bluffing on A/K/T/Q rivers.

i don't think turn sizing is that big a deal. we can bet quite a few 9x for value ott (and for this reason can rep a wider value range otr).

as for best river bluffing combos, probably some floats that don't have spades or block some of villains weaker turn calls (high card straight draws/overcards i guess) and do an ok job of blocking some of villains 9x that cbet flop and x/c turn fairly often, 78 and T8 kinda stuff (i guess club combos are the best ones of these).
