200nl, EP player opens $4. I call with A 6 in HJ. Effective stacks are 64BBs. Guy seemed loose so I floated the flop. What do you think of pushing on the river here?

Flop($10.39) J 2 Q
EP player bets $5.20
I call

Turn($20.22) J 2 Q 8
EP player checks
I bet $12
EP player calls

River($42.88) J 2 Q 8 7
EP player checks
I push all-in making it $117.34 to call needs to work at least 73% to break even.

I can see a lot of people putting me on T9 here. Someone could also put me on 88 or two pair. I'm really hoping that most people will be gamble grumblers and put me on T9 though. What do you think?

Pretty decent. Villains range seems pretty capped to top pair and KK/AA sometimes. I wouldn't expect villain to c/c sets unless he is aware that you may barrel worse otr and has a tendency to slowplay the nuts.. Yiu can rep a strong range pretty easily on the otherhand and i think may be a good enough spot to be a +ev shove

What hands fold to the overbet that call $35?

Some Qx hands. I can see QT or Q9 calling $35, but folding to a shove. AA and KK may end up folding too, but it may be close. In the actual hand he tanked for a long time and then ended up calling with Q2s.

From villain's point of view, how can he make that call on the river? Does he have some kind of read on you or is he the kind that can't lay down top pair? It's a connected board on the flop and the runout is terribly favorable for his top pair.

Just re-read the thread and I missed that villain was holding Q2s, so he has two pair. I'd definitely say he's loose opening with that from EP

This is a great example of why you shouldn't bother trying to defend small pots with marginal hands. Calling Axss in the HJ is not great, floating a flop where you had one backdoor out was not good, and the overbet push on the end wound up costing you $130 to defend a $10 pot.
