It's a habit more than anything. You'll notice even my posts have it. If it's annoying people I'll stop from here on in.

This is just a way of making poker range more visual.

The more polarized or "outer" two parts of your range is referred to as external range. Its somewhat of a complex concept as it does generalize too much in certain situations if we don't look at a hand as a whole.

That may not be the case here though depending on the blinds and the caller. We may make it to the turn with our entire (visual) external range given certain, (albeit somewhat rare) assumptions.

Even if not though, we still refer to the remaining external range hands as external range or "acctual external range" when we are talking about balance or turn action as its just assumed that, the hands that this line would be -ev going into the turn are no longer included when referring to turn external range.

Hopefully that helps.

Finally, a coherent explanation of internal vs external ranges that anyone can follow. TY!

juggernaut, stop trolling. Seriously it's not funny.

External ranges generally refer to the ranges that other people, or people on the exterior, perceive. Internal ranges are your actual ranges that aren't visible but is important to estimating actual ev of certain decisions if you are looking to play close to gto.

You're both wrong. External ranges refer to the ranges of players who are playing outside on their laptop, often by a swimming pool or in their back garden.

I believe you are confusing the external range with the exterior range. Happens to all of us.

Re: 100NL - Balancing Act

It sounds like external range is pretty much the same thing as your perceived range.

No.

Read my post again and maybe play with poker stove a bit and it will go a long way toward fully understanding this concept.
