Villain : 17/15/2AF 4% 3b, folds to 3b 43% over 278 hands total
steals 60%, folds to flop c-bets 30%

Anyway, I'm tilting at this point so opted to flat call the giant 4b which is basically always AA to set mine getting the wrong odds.

min 5bet then fold to a shove

In all seriousness guys, whats ur plan here? Don't 3b pre b/c we don't wanna be in this situation?

as bad as it may sound, there are definitely arguments for not 3balling - simply coz u can't really get in worse than AA >200bb deep without some sort of history. and if u dunno how to react to a 4bet, the best remedy is to not make that 3bet. i hate flatting the 4ball. on the other hand, not 3balling misses a ton of value - regs are gonna set-mine to the shizz when effective stacks are so deep coz there's tons of IO with the worse hands he's gonna flat with. and if he's set-mining heaps when u 3ball then u can effectively print $$$ when he c/f flop or peels one off, c/f turn. so on that note i would actually 3bet bigger like $13-15 due to deepness of stacks.

as played i probably peel the flop and fold turn UI. it's pretty ghey, but there's not much else u can really do. folding flop is definitely not a sin tho.

Set mining with KK is awful. You have less than 300 hands on villain so I don't see how you can confidently put AA as the only hand in his range considering he only folds to 3bets 42% of the time.

I'm pretty sure his range here is KK+ and AKs at best, he never c-bets flop w/AKs in this spot b/c our calling range is a scared KK or a tarping AA.

Even for him to bet KK in this spot is sick b/c we're really never calling with worse.

I was clearly joking about the set mining part too.

if i were a coach i would tell all my students to relentlessly shovel money into pots where you are 200+ bb deep with a reg because at 100nl it seems nobody is willing to stack off without stone cold nizzles

You clearly were set mining if you fold on a 9 high flop to one bet...

If you're so sure of his range, why are you calling pre. I don't know if you noticed but people that 4 bet pre tend to cbet a decently high amount on low flops.

So he knows you never call worse than KK in that spot? That's kinda exploitable...
09-04-2010 , 11:01 AM
your hand is so face up here its ridiculous.

raising kk pre vs an utg raiser with decent stats this deep is super thin, and will put you in a ton of really dumb spots if he's aggro. can imagine its more then +a few bb's in ev. When you call the four bet and fold the flop, you're setmining, and thats terrible.

If you call pre you have an underrepped hand, give your opponent a chance to make huge mistakes, and can pot control or stack when appropriate.
09-04-2010 , 12:22 PM
Okay okay, so maybe I was set mining in tilt mode.

Vs this villain type HOW do you guys play the hand? He 4b us and we call, and we're just calling down now?

I like your fold, only becuz thats wat i wud do. But then again, im a nit.
09-05-2010 , 12:47 PM
what are your stats? He may know you flat with worse then KK and since he is Big Stack, he can take the pot down.
