Played Wolf Run again this weekend times two, saturday and sunday.
Saturday I shot a 91, Sunday I shot 86. I am still wasting shots with my driver. This course was short enough from the tees I played (6200 yards) that I should have just left my driver in the bag and used my 3-wood/3-brid to tee off with.

Sunday I birdied a 180 yard par 3, seven-iron to the front of the green, the putt fell in on it's last revolution. Then the very next hole was a 440 yard par 4; driver down the middle (one of the few), 6-iron pushed right and left my ball sitting on this little mound that gave me a birds eye view of the hole. I play a soft little pitch shot that lands exactly where I wanted it to and 10 feet of roll later the ball was in the bottom of the cup.
first ever back to back birdies.

shot 76 yesterday on home course (par 73)
Best score to date. Just like me to start playing well as the season ends

We have golf year-round and that's a semi-brag, but it's hot as hell in the summertime afternoons (sheesh, today's high is gonna be 106) and the overseeding the courses do in October really rapes the course and it takes around a month or two to fully recover.

Anyway, I witnessed the close of our 32-man match play event yesterday. I was bounced three months ago in the round of eight after winning the previous two matches but managed to worm my way into most of the final matches as an interested observer. Shot a 79 with two doubles and no birdies, pretty meh.

The match sucked though, ugh. One guy came out really nervy. They halved the first hole with bogeys but he kept playing like ass and the other guy settled down just enough to take a 5-up lead through nine and then won 7&6. The guy who lost is a five handicapper who shot a 90 on a pretty easy course. In the twelve holes of the match only had a single par - once complete he had a few over the last six holes. He lamented showing up without a hangover as he said he plays better in that condition and proceeded to get quite hammered by the end of the round on chewing tobacco, a big cigar, and chugging Three Olives Grape from a bottle I brought out. We weren't teetotalers either - between the four of us we almost killed an entire 1.75 liter bottle.

EDIT: it should be noted that in addition to pride, the final payouts were like $850 or so for first and around $500 for second.

I went to post my round from Sunday last night night and I started adding up all the times I got up and down. I think the end total was 8 times, and the longest putt I had was 2.5 feet. That's so far above expectation for my short game it's like winning the lottery.

And then I remembered that if I had my usual short game I probably wouldn't have broken 100.

38 (par 35). Got off to a fun start - stuffed an 8 iron to 2 feet on #1, missed the putt. Stuffed a 9 iron to 2 feet on #2, made it. Slacked off after that. Last hole is a par 5 - drive rattled around in some trees, so I had to lay up, except I chunked it, leaving 210 in. Perfect cut 1 iron to 12 feet. Standard green in regulation.

Tuq,

When it is 100+ degrees, is it too hot to golf? I never really been anywhere where it was 100+ dry heat.

When its 95 here in mich, its way to hot to golf, because of humidity.

when it starts getting to 110 and above, it gets a lil toasty. But if it's dry and a little breezy, 105 really isn't that bad.

When I was out there I remember playing a Nationwide Monday qualifer in October. It was 90-92 all day, walked 18 holes, never really sweated or got tired.

Now I'm in Dallas, and sometimes when it's just 80 I don't even want to play cause I know I'm going to be drinking a bottle of water every hole and just so tired by the end of the round.

New wedge took 6 shots off my game yesterday at a links type course with maddddd wind. Managed to shoot a solid 84 from the tips with crazy wind.

New wedge is Clevland 60 degree square groove club. This honestly has revolutionized my short game as I have total control over the spin of the ball. Definitely look into this club if you're playing quick hard greens and are having a hard time with your <100yard range.

Played at Texas Star (DFW) today for first time, shot 91 (48-43). Course was in awesome shape. Played Tour 18 the previous Friday and broke 100 there for first time and drank a ton for free thanks to the fugly clubhouse bartender.

I've played tour 18 3 or 4 times this year. Its a pretty tough course for me, and was in good shape most of the times I've been there. Last week it was fairly muddy b/c of all that rain we had and the greens were mega slow compared to last few times I was there.

Definitely check out Texas Star though if you make it out to mid-cities sometime.

Best round ever yesterday - by far! 73 on a par 71 course which gave me 43 stableford points and a win in the golf club championship at work. Only event all year in that golf club that's played as strokeplay without handicap so nice timing

Can't wait to go play later today

West Mid again

I had a real round of two halves 52 and 43, 12 points and 21.
I couldn’t chip pitch or putt and was hooking everything but the driver pretty hard. Then On the tenth hole I was looking at my own shadowy and realised my hips were sliding right on the back swing after that I played much better.

Dear god.
Reading this thread, I don't even want to post my scores.
I played a decent amount in college, but was always horrible. This summer I took a small group lesson. Four of us for four 1 hour sessions. I think it's made a huge difference. I'm still very much a work in progress, but I am improving.
This weekend I played Kensington, shot a 59-48 for a 107.
Felt like I hit really well, but was absolutely terrible with my putter.
147 yd par 3, on in 1 and 4 put.
160 yd par 3, on in 2 and 3 put.
195 yd par 3, on in 1 and 2 put (probably my best hole).
I'm yet to break 100 on 18 this summer, but multiple times have shot under 50 on 9 holes. So I know I can do it, I just haven't been able to put it together for a full round.

Played in a scramble on Saturday. Crushed the ball (for me, I still don't hit it 300). Hit all five par 3s, none more than 15 feet away. We finished 2 over. One ****ing birdie.

That's some BAD putting right there.

sounds just like me. shot my best 18 holes (100) a few weeks ago and haven't shot above 50 over 9 holes for quite a while.

Played a new course today. Stanmore it was very hilly and had a lot of long uphill par fours. I had 29 stableford points just enough to win.
My round was notable for my amazing short putting and not in a good way.
On about six holes I lagged long puts up to a few feet from the hole then left the three foot tap in half an inch short.
I had a two and a half foot par putt on the last and I left it just sitting there on the lip.

What a difference a day makes... 82 on what's probably the easiest and shortest par 70 course I have ever played Absolutely nothing worked.

Went by myself to play at a cheap muni. Driving range was closed and putting green had the sprinkler on, so I'm taking a few warmup swings near the 1st tee when an old guy comes up behind me and I offer to let him go ahead. He asks if I want to play together, I warn him that I'm very bad, but we end up playing together. Turns out the guy is 71 years old and didn't start playing until he was 68. He wasn't great, but he was better than me--not that that says much.

Anyway, I find playing with a group keeps me more patient and gives me more time to cool off between bad shots, so I play a little better. Had a handful of good holes, a couple of bogeys, and a couple of holes that should have been pars. One par-3 I hit a bad tee shot, took a mulligan, put the ball on the green with my 2nd tee shot, then 4-putted. Gross. Another par-3 I hit a 5-iron thin and saw it bounce in front of the green and thought it would die short of the green. Instead it skips and rolls all the way through to the back fringe, I opt to putt instead of chipping, and I 4-putt. Oddly enough my putting was quite good on almost all of the other holes. I'm usually pretty good at avoiding three-putts, but today I was making more 8-to-10 footers than I usually do.

47 (par 35). Solid round.

Before I get a "dude wait wat", it was "toughman" night with the pins in ridiculous places. Super fun event, even though it attacks the weakest part of my game. I played pretty well other than a blade job out of a bunker into jail that cost me a quad.

I was kind of disappointed, though - the wind has been howling the last couple days, 25-30+ mph plus with gusts up over 50. Of course it laid down before we teed off. And they didn't have us play from the tips either.

It is getting cold fast Bondsy...

I played this morning at 7:30am - 42 degrees.

Hit a big hook off number one into the trees. Salvaged bogey.

In the bunker on two. Great explosion shot to two feet for par.

In the trees right(overcompensation) on number three. Went for too much. Had to play a left-handed shot. Triple bogey 7.

Five pars and one birdie on the way in for 38.

We quit after nine because one of our group is in his 70s and couldn't take the cold.
