I was doing this a lot but got to the range and figured out what the problem was...im no expert and do not claim to be one but my left arm was too far away from my body on my downswing or whatever so I concentrated on bringing it back in closer and it seems I'm hitting it square and it's going straight now...even pulling sometimes

worst case, just shift your stance like 15 degrees to the left and it will end up in front of you

I shot a 135 on a par 71 course yesterday. NOTE: This is my first time actually playing golf...only been to a driving range before that.

That's not a horrible score for a first time ever is it??

I'm living the golf version of:

sans Jessica Alba.

I'll be cruising along, playing my cruddy 15 hdcp game, and then I'll actually feel my hands doing something funny at the top, resulting in a shut clubface, and at that point, all bets are off.

I'll fight it, and it may or may not right itself. Spent the front nine Sunday at Cinnabar Hills in San Jose hitting the ball into hazards to the left, and then it just stopped on the back. 55-42. WTF.

Yesterday, played Callippe Preserve in Pleasnaton for the first time. Nice course...a little pricey for a non-resident. I stopped keeping score on 16, though.

For you good Bay Area players (or if you like losing expensive balls) Callippe is having a Pro-V1 & Pro-V1x sale right now, 5 boxes for $180.

I broke my lifetime best round with a 74 on Saturday. 36-38. My previous best was 75. Did it here.

4 birdies, 6 bogeys, 8 pars. Was on in 2 on both par-5s and drove the green on a 315 yd. Par 4.

All in all just a career day for me. Very stoked.

I've never played Stone Creek, but it's a buddy of mine's favorite relatively-affordable course in the area. How do you like it?

Played for the first time this year on Monday. Sunken Meadow State Park on Long Island (meh course at best).

Shot 47 (+11) on the front, 36 (E) on the back.

I think the beer started kicking in around the 9th hole...

For the price, it can't be beat in the area. Green fees on Saturday primetime are $39. The course is in great shape and maintained well. Beer cart women are amazingly attractive (9 body, 9 face). Course was not packed at all. Despite its short length, the course is very challenging in spots.

Currently carry an 11.3. Have basically been between a 7 and 10 for the better part of a decade. Had hernia surgery last year, spent the first half the summer recovering- and the second half just trying to find a swing that worked after losing some muscle memory/actual muscle development,
That said - being healthy/painfree is easily the way to go even if I have to retrain some things.
Handicap rose as I post lots of late season 86-90s last year. Recovery was long and I was timid on getting any sort of full swing back.
Fully healed this year I post several 85-88 scores while regaining some shots. Each round feels like many things are nearly there again but I can't complete a round well at all after the long off period.
Finally put together a reasonable round today - nine pars and nine bogies for an 80 on a par 71 71.6/128 course.
Everything that was "close" to being back was mostly back.
Hit plenty of good irons, got into zero trouble off the tee, recovered well on the two holes I managed to find water.
Some putts found the cup and I was able to put some swings on some shots I hadnt been able to do in 2 years since the injury presented itself. I've had plenty of better rounds, but few that have felt this good overall for obvious reasons.
Waited out a rain delay in league to go finish the last 4 holes with an outside shot at breaking 80.
Didn't happen- will soon again.

78 on Fighting Joe

It was my first time to play it. We played it from the tips (8,000+), and it was just one tough hole after another.

Beautiful clubhouse. It sits on top of a hill looking out at the Tenn. River.
Very reasonable rates. I would recommend the RTJ Trail courses to anyone in the area. But pick the right tees to play!

I started off awful. Had 2 in the water and one lost ball, and was +6 after 7.
Then played very well, and parred the last eleven holes.

I look forward to playing it again.

Wow. Hella-long. I can't say I've ever seen a 700 yard hole before. Do they even have one on tour?

42 yesterday in league play - low round (of nine) so far this year. Would have been better without the two balls into the woods.

That is an unbelievably nice course for such cheap rates. Here in Portland that gets you a beat up municipal course.

It's also funny to see that your June/July/August season is the cheap season for greens fees (for obvious reasons since it's miserable to be outside in the South in the summer).

103 on Par 72.

Pretty annoying day overall. Combine the fact that 1 out of 5 of my shots are capable of going anywhere, with fast hilly greens when your not putting well and bad things happen.

Brag: I drove the hell out of the ball (well, by my standards) with my new Taylor Made r5.

Beat: I somehow forgot how to swing every other club in my bag, putted horribly, and wound up with a 110, my worst score in years (I'm usually in the mid-90s).

Variance: Every off-line shot seemed to wind up directly behind a tree. I think I had six chip-outs to the fairway.

Congrats on the score at Meadows. Do you have a chance to play Woodlands or Crosswater this weekend? Good luck if you're playing Crosswater...you'll need it.

No dice on Crosswater or Woodlands. We're not staying at the resort so I can't get on Crosswater, and Woodlands is under renovation for couple weeks. I did play Aspen Lakes(88 from 6500yds) up in Sisters,OR this morning. Beautiful golf course for $60.

We're playing Widgi again tomorrow afternoon, and I'll try to find one more place to play on Monday.
