I played a round today that seems interesting enough to post.
Leslie Park GC in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Played the black tees, 6591 yards, 72.0/129.
Playing the back nine first and number 10 is the number one handicap hole. 404 yards with a creek running down the left then crossing over guarding the front and right of a small green. I hit a weak drive into the left rough and was left with 175 yards in. Played a smooth 4-iron to ten feet, then left the uphill birdie putt short. It was dead center. Bleh.
Score 39-46-85. The 46 was terrible + a couple bad breaks.
Fairways 5/14. Most misses within five yards.
GIR 8/18. One birdie and seven pars.
Putts 35. Two three putts!
Drives ranging from 229 to a couple around 280(downhill
).
Highlight: On number 17 I dumped my tee shot on a par 3 short. It carried a pond, but rolled back into the water. Water covered the ball, but I decided to strip off my shoes and socks and step in. I smashed a huge explosion of water and when I opened my eyes the ball had gone about 15 feet to near the fringe. The beat? I was splattered from the waist down with pond scum. Disgusting and smelly. No pics available.
I putted terribly and realized the ball was squirting off my putter. A visit to the putting green after the round got me straightened out. It was annoying as I only made one birdie putt and missed 3 or 4 from inside 20 feet.
