40-41-81

1 birdie, 2 doubles

Back to reality. Played with club champion today and for some reason I was kinda nervous. Not sure why since I had played with him several times before.

37-39-76

3 birdies, 1 bogey, 3 doubles

When bad, really bad. Hung in there today though.

42-41-83. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 70.3/133/6050 yards.

Hit about two dozen balls on the range before the round and on the very last one I found something with the driver. Ended up with one popup -- on 17 when I didn't do the correction -- but it feels like this might be a sustainable fix. Hit a couple genuinely good drives.

Now, about that putter. It took a lot of holes to get warmed up and mostly wasn't good period. The double was a 3 putt on 16 but I'm not even mad about that one, the pin was in a completely ridiculous spot.

41 - 39 = 80

Played well, penalties crushed me. Pulled a 5-wood off the tee into the water on a long par 3; probably only the third time I've done that in four years at this course.

39 was with a triple, also with a penalty.

42-36-78 +9 .... At a forest course. Hot dry day. My best round here is +4 this was in the winter and it's a lot easier then

Greens were slick pretty fun to putt on tbh. I was even putting way off the green on some of the holes as it's a forest course you get a lot of bare lies, normally I'm pretty confident chipping onto the green.

Front is a lot tougher than the back but the 1 over on the back was real nice. Only 1 birdie.

Shaved a stroke off the handicap though which I'm happy about.

47-52-99. Broke 100 finally. New to me course. 2 pars, only one triple bogey.
Found these on the same hole in the same woods.

45-45-90

On the bogey train almost the whole round. 2 doubles, 2 pars.

Could not hit a GIR to save my life. Drove it OK. Irons sucked.

This, plus every other hole was a lip-out

42 (par 36). 1 birdie, 1 double bogey.

I imagine this must be what playing golf in Texas is like. Hot and insanely windy. Steady 20+ mph with gusts easily in the 40s. I adjusted just fine with the ball striking but it destroyed my putting. Hit the first 3 greens in regulation, inside 10 feet for birdie on each and was +2 after 3. Barely.

34-37-71 +2

Bit easier to knock it around my local after playing a tougher course yesterday. I put in another card today as well so should go down a little.

2 Birdies 4 bogeys

Gave myself so many chances today and felt like I was using the putter pretty well. Had a few clutch putt's which were like 8-10 feet to save Par's.

Enjoyable Friday evening golf. Perfect conditions.

41-38-79 +10 in todays comp,

Played like ass on the front 9... but managed to birdie the hardest hole with stiff breeze right into us. Back 9 I sort of saved a score but pretty average overall.

41-47-88. No birdies, 4 double bogeys. 71.5/132/about 6500 yards.

Too long and the ball striking went AWOL on the back. Didn't putt or chip well either.

40-44-84 -6 net (par 71). 70.1/127/6234 yds. Porter, it was Langdon from Tee 6.

6 fairways, 2 greens, no birdies, 3 doubles (two penalties), 26 putts, 8 one putts, one zero putt. 6 of the 8 pars were one putts, the zero putt was for bogey from the fringe.

lots of holes cut just a few paces from the edges, the GIR number was a lot better than it seems...at least five putts from the fringe within 15 feet of the hole.

driving was horrid with penalizing results and the reason for the score. it's been fairly solid recently but not today. i should have just bagged it and went with 3w but ego got in the way. there were several really good shots, short and long, that show some signs of promise and no complaints with the putter.

43-40-83. No birdies, no double bogeys. 70.3/133/6050 yards. 11/14 fairways, 5/18 greens, 31 putts.

Ball striking much better. Only threatened to make a double once but one putted to save my bogey. Put a different putter in the bag and it took nine holes to get it dialed in, putted much better on the back. Chipping was a little off but much of that was a higher than normal degree of difficulty.

Made my 1st ever eagle on Friday on the opening hole. Ok drive followed by a 264 yard 3 wood to around 10 feet and knocked in the putt.
The rest of my round was awful but I didn't really care too much

Playing for years and never had one. My handicap is 17 but I'm so inconistent it's ridiculous.

Could not hit a thing on the front nine. Was +13 after 8 holes and in full meltdown mode... then managed a lucky birdie on the Par 4 9th when my approach got a friendly kick off a slope to within 2 feet.

Back 9 I was in eff it mode as the round was already ruined, and just started swinging as hard as I could with little thought to technique. Needless to say that's when I started hitting it a lot better.

This seems to be a theme where when I'm playing really bad I start just letting loose and usually hit it better. I'm obviously overthinking and trying to control things too much. Going to try being more aggressive from the outset during my next round and see how it goes. My problem is finding that happy medium between not overswinging, and not trying to manipulate the club.

Well done! Been playing 10 years and still don't have one. Had a similar putt to yours on a Par 5 once (after the best 3-wood I ever hit in my life). Missed the putt.

Good shooting though. I love Langdon; I didn't play it enough when I was in Portland.
