Re: What\'d You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Golf forum, awesome.

Today I played at Buena Golf (that may not be its name, I don't know) in Ventura California. It's a par 70 course. I shot 100, with a par on a the 2 handicap hole, 398 yards.

My driver today was insane. I usually use a 3 wood to drive, cause I can keep it straight on track, and still about 200 yards. Well, I was consistenly hitting 220 with it today, so on the final 5 holes I used the 1 when appropriate. Wow! Instead of huge pop fly shots, I was hitting line drive shots that were absolutely straight. And I was going about 250 yards I would guess.

Of course, my low irons are pretty horrible, I avoid 3 and 4-6 are unreliable for me. That is the next part of my game I really need to work on. Putt decent.

Front 9 - all bogeys or double bogeys along with an 8 on a par 4. I think some iron shots that went ~20 yards screwed that one up.

Back 9 - Single and double bogey;s along with a par and triple. My par hole had a chance for birdie, but I missed a 7 foot putt.

Golf is awesome! 25 bucks for 5 hours of entertainment.

Re: What\'d You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

PATs are a jokish setup. The PGA basically sets it up at a minimal yardage and the pins are usually about center-center.

I went out and played the course once before my PAT, found which holes I needed to be slightly more aggressive on and which holes I need to scrape up a par on, then went out two days later and played that same gameplan.

I'm surprised at the number of good players who don't play well in these things... and at the number of people who simply enter the PAT just to play the golf course. (It sounds ridiculous, but I've heard a bunch of people say how their playing partner openly admitted to having no shot of passing, rather they would just pay the entry fee and play a decent course.)

Re: What\'d You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Fugly 89 today. Didn't make a par until #9 and was lucky it wasn't worse - had quite a few one putt bogeys.

It really doesn't suit my game when the course is set up long like it was this time - too many holes where I have almost no chance at getting the ball in the fairway off the tee. Hard choice between praying to not hook the driver too much or being unable to reach the green after hitting an iron.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

Re: What\'d You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

shot a 59 today on one of the tougher courses in the area. Played terrible first few holes. Still trying to get in the swing of things.

oh yah, that was from the blue tees as well. for some reason our league makes us play from those

Re: What\'d You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

96 today on one of the local muni courses here in Ausitn. (Lions Muni) I'm pretty dissapointed in my play today and am getting used to my new clubs, and more importantly my new shafts (Cobra S9's w/ Reg. Graphite). I'll be in Portland this whole summer and am doubting my abitlity to be able to play often.

Re: What\'d You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

44-36-80 Orchard Creek, Altamont, NY, Par 71, 6178 Y, 70.2/128

Fought my swing and my putting stroke on the front. 19 putts.

Started knowcking down some flags and stroking it on the back. 15 putts.

I've been hitting the ball well all year, just putting and chipping poorly, working hard on my short game during practice.

Changed to the claw grip on the back side, started rolling the ball better to shoot one over on the back. Things are still looking up, should be shooting some decent scores really soon.

May get up early tomorrow morning to play in a Sunday morning Loop I used to play at a local course.

Three birdies today, with two missed birdies within 10 feet on the front side. Now that I'm rolling the ball better, the scoring should come.

All for now, more scores soon!!

Where in Portland will you be? Let me know and I'll suggest some good places to play.

We are roommates...but ill go ahead and say if we went head to head on the course...I think his 18 hole score would beat my 9 hole score...so no Survivor needed!

Re: What\'d You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

83 today with 7 three putts and 2 OB

however, playing 4 man team 1 low ball we were even today through 12 with two bogeys when I birdied 13 and eagled 14

Then one of my partners birdied 15,16, & 18. We finish -6 win the team bet by one. I get two skins, and my side bet partner shoots 69 with 5 birdies and we kick some dollar double butt. SWEET!

Re: What\'d You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Played first round of the season today in windy conditions at Northgate in Reno.
Slope rating is 129 I think. 70.1
Shot 50 on the front w/ 2 quads and 42 on back for a 92.
My driver and 3wood were on fire.
Everything else pretty much sucked.
Made one putt over 3 feet.
