Nice round for early in the year.

40-43-83 - I double, rest pars and bogeys.

Finding it harder and harder to concentrate when I'm out not working on anything in particular or not in a tournament.

Front nine was bizaro-world. 3-putt bogeyed 3 holes and got up and down on for par on 5 different holes. The other hole was up and down for bogey.

Charity event this afternoon followed by a 2 round am tour event this weekend in Orlando.

Not great. I am sitting 8 of 19 heading into round 2. Never felt comfortable swinging the club today for some reason.

The lol 9 was a good one. 525y par 5 straight into the wind. Determined to get there in two since my round was **** I swing out of my shoes and somehow top a driver in the water. Smashed #3 in the fairway. Had 238y to clear the water and drop kicked a 3 wood in the water. #6 in the greenside bunker, 7 out and lipped #8 from 20 feet and made a lol 9.

One positive is I have 1 skin waiting for me in the am worth around $55.

Living in New England and the ridiculous weather we’ve had I played my first round of the year today. Haven’t played since day after thanksgiving.

Parred the 1st. Parred 18 with a 21 footer off the fringe. Everything else is a pass.

All my life I never got that crisp clacking sound on my chips. Some dude I I was playing with was around a scratch so I just awkwardly focused on his chipping. Off address he took the club very vertical instead of outward like I do. I spent about an hour after the round and it’s starting to make sense....

Only 11 shots better today. Played all day in a 20-30 mph wind. That course is ALWAYS windy. Moved up from 8th to 4th place.

36 putts, 2 3-putts and 2 1-putts. Had to make a lot of 5 footers. One of the birdies was a 2-putt. Greens are MASSIVE.

Nice turnaround.

Hc a new low of 12.8, and got 4 more rounds up my sleeve before a score that counts drops off the calculation, so we could keep this downward trend going!

Shot -2 to hc yesterday and left a TON of shots out there. My chipping was horrendous.
Made two birdies - second time I’ve made two in a comp round, and added that to my 2018 Golf goals to make 3 or more birdies in a single competition round. Other goal is make an eagle (haven’t had one yet)

Plenty of better scores, but played one of my better rounds ever on Saturday. Totally choked and 3 putted from 20 feet for an 80, but wind was gusting 40 mph.


Highlights:

Stuffed my brand new ROGUE headcover in my bag on the first hole. Hat blew off and headcover blew off...I searched for it like a moron for a few minutes and couldn't find it. (someone turned it in thankfully)

Drive on no. 5 (440 yards) to 97 yards.

No. 1 is a 90 degree dog leg left and you have to get it past the trees, but then you have a 5-8 iron in depending on the pin and all of that. I hit driver, barely made it to the fairway, had to layup with an 8 iron to 80 yards.

On no. 11 (550ish), I drove it a good 40 yards past the farthest I've ever been and had 219 to the hole. Approach shot is still stupid so I laid up with a 7 iron because I'm a *****.

Played late Sat afternoon, temp was 80 degrees and light breeze when we teed off, in the 40s with a howling 30mph+ wind by the time we reached 18. Got to experience 4 seasons in one round.

Very happy with my new Cobra King LTD driver, ball just jumps off the face and the trajectory and distance are way ahead of my old Diablo Edge. Striped my tee shot on the first hole 290 down the middle, reached the green in 2 (490 yd par 5), 3-putted for par. Probably the 2nd time I've ever reached in two, but the first one had a much stronger wind helping. Hit some excellent iron shots, especially the short irons... still having an issue wiping the long irons and pushing them way right. Also lost 2 tee shots OB which led to 2 double-bogeys.

All in all I'm happy with the round, pretty solid by my standards. I feel like if I can clean up some glaring mistakes I can get down to the low 80s more consistently.

41/43 no double through 17, quad on 18. 2 birdies. I had to go par par on 17/18 to break 80. Missed another chance

Probably hit it better than I did last Sunday. Driver was on early in the round the few times I hit it:

#3 327y, 10y short of green
#6 370y, 15y short of green (downwind and BOMBED) closest I have ever been to this one.
#9 469y, 157y to green
#16 358y, 53y to green

Hit it 2 other times with not great results, but did reach the par 5 in 2 after one of em.

I'm getting close...

86, proceeded to rip card up and go in and pay for another 18 hence no stats on the first round besides elite suckage.

I struck the ball really well minus back to back double crossed approaches with 8 and 9 iron. Saved par on 1 not the other. Drove the ball very well, eased up on some so average drive not super amazing but hit several in dead center of fairway and non of the missed caused recovery shots minus having to lay up on a par 5. Trying out some new balls as well. Srixon Z star XV. Like them so far

1 birdie (2-putt variety), 1 double, rest pars and bogeys.

13 GIR which has to be a personal best on that course. Now if I could only putt....

First round of the season in Michigan today. Annual 2 man scramble tournament. Shot 76, no birdies, four bogeys. Missed putt after putt after putt, greens hadn't healed from aeration last fall and every putt was an adventure. Driver was good, irons were pretty sad, at least a club and a half short of standard.

Thanks, no clue how golf can be so bad then so good on the exact same course 1 hour later.

2 man scramble, day 2. Shot 68 to finish even par for the weekend. 4 birdies, no bogeys. We both hit the ball much better yesterday but putted much better today.

Hit one OB on #2, 2 in the water on #3 and almost in the lateral on #4 and #5. Settled down after that, until I hit one OB on #9 as well.

35-34-69 on my home course par 72 74.4 rating. Hit 14 greens, and had 14 putts inside of 25 feet for birdie. Greens are recovering from aeration like 12 days ago, so I couldn't buy a putt, though I don't think I putted great. 4 birdies, 1 bogey.

Legit playing the best golf of my life. I have a few -4 rounds in my life, fully expect to shoot a 6 or 7 under round at some point this year. Could have shot a 62 the way I hit it today.

Bringing this up as my member/member is this weekend. Picked-up a different partner this year and our games should match up very well. He is a 5-6 cap that hits 3-wood off the tee in the fairway about 100% of the time. Will allow me to get the driver out on Saturday for the shamble and modified alternate shot portion.

New career 9 hole low this morning, shot by shot. Note: I played the white tees today in prep for the member/member this weekend.

Hole 1 - 476y par 5

Good tee shot that was a step into the rough on the left. Somehow had no roll from it and had 199y to the green. Since I will have the 4i out of the bag this weekend, I hit 21* hybrid over the green. Chip shot with green falling away i lipped out for eagle but the ball rolled about 15 feet past the pin. Missed the birdie putt and tapped in for par.

2nd hole - 343y par 4

Hit hybrid off the tee and just pulled it a touch and was a step into the right rough. Barely safe from the trees I had 136y to the green. Hit pitching wedge to 5 feet and made the putt for birdie.

Took the tee shot over the water and went for the green. Flew the green leaving a downihill put with green sloping away. Hit what I thought was a good chip but it rolled out 20 feet past the hole. Was a little aggressive coming back up the hill and rolled it 4 feet by. Made the comeback putt for par.

Hole 4 - 160y par 3

Played 156 today and I hit 9 iron a touch thin which ended up being perfect to 3 feet below the hole. Made the birdie putt.

Hole 5 - 379y par 4

Hit 5 wood off the tee and caught the left edge of the fairway 154 yards out. Hit 9 iron (again) and had 10 feet for birdie. Failed miserably on the putt and tapped in for par.

Hole 6 - 346 yards par 4

Hit a good driver that cuts the slight dogleg right but ended up in right rough. 63y to the green I chunk my 58* wedge 15y short of the green. Chip my 3rd no nearly hard enough but on the green 35 feet below the hole. Hit a really good putt that broke more than anticipated and tapped in for bogey.

Hole 7 - 384y par 4

Hit a good and low hybrid off the tee to 160y out. Hit 9 iron yet again to about 10 feet. Tricky sliding putt to the left which I missed and tapped in for par.

Hole 8 - 153y par 3

Playing 156 I hit 8 iron too good and am over the green in the second cut by less than a foot. Tricky fast downhill I putt it soft but it still runs 8 feet by. I hit the center of the hole on the comeback putt and make par.

Hole 9 - 456y par 5 (lol)

Hit a solid drive that catches the right edge of the fairway 171y out. Have to get the ball up over the tree with 7 iron, which I do and leave it 30 feet under the hole. I have an eagle putt for 33 and this is what happens:



Hit the right-center of the hole and horseshoes hard back at me. Tap in the 6 inch putt for a birdie.

Not very warm and the wind really came up on the back. Hit some decent shots but nothing was outstanding. Lots of putts.

Each flight is 8 groups, we are in the top flight. Top net in each flight goes on to the shootout. Only one back we will have a chance. I will get 9 shots tomorrow and partner will get 5. So if we are -9 on the 9 holes we probably need to pick another 2 shots up to have a chance, so 61 net would have a good chance.

We shot 71 gross, 63 net. Good for second place. Someone 1 shot back of us went 65 gross, 60 net.

I'm never been so disappointed with such a good round. I had 5,6,6 and 7 irons into the par 5's and I went +1. If I just hit the dame green on those holes and 2-putt that's 5 shots better.

One of my doubles was a sky ball off the tee and then having hybrid into a par 4 which I pulled in the water. The other was an 8 iron into a green that I pulled right. Hit a great chip shot that just missed going in for birdie but slopes down after the hole and I had 12 feet coming back. Blew the par putt 4 feet past and then babied the bogey putt so I didn't have another 12 feet coming back.
