Again just awful. Hit maybe three or four acceptable shots. About the only thing that was decent was the sand game. Oh, and short putts after I stopped giving a damn and just stepped up and whacked them at the hole.

Shot 84 yesterday with 4 lost balls and a water penalty off the tee. Lost 9.5 strokes gained driving. Was actually amazing I only shot 84. Plus JB Holmes also shot an 84 yesterday so I feel a little less bad.

Started off great going birdie, birdie. 3-putt bogey from 60 feet on the 3rd then was green high on the par 5 4th in 2 before taking bogey. Par 5th, bogey 6th then the lol happened.

400 y par 4 I hit a great drive but pull it right, hits a tree an comes backwards into a bunker. 133y I hit fat into another bunker, 3rd I hit good, but not good enough into the greenside bunker. Hit to fringe on 5th. Bad lag and then take two putts more from there for a triple.

Tried going for the 9th on the drive, going the long way is 345, the short way is a 280y carry, 290 to the green. Didn't get there.

Felt good about some of my game and ready for tournament tomorrow.

Florida State Golf Association one day event. I'm in the < 50 net division. Not much to be won, $10 of each entry goes into gift certificates. They also have gross skins for $20 that you can get into. I will for sure do that in case I can eagle one of the par 5's.

I start on #12 tomorrow. Right into the teeth of the course starting on #14. Playing the blue tees.

Playing my first Golfweek Amateur tour event on Saturday at Rio Secco in Vegas. Playing the A flight for HCI 4.0 - 8.9 (I'm a 7.3). Doing a practice round on Wednesday. Similar to what Scott's doing, they have skins and other things as well as the points and small money awarded...should be fun, although I better start practicing my gimme putts!

Forgot to post but 39-44-83 on Saturday with 3 birds. Hit it wonky off the tee but recovered well. Hit some really tight approaches. Pretty ecstatic for only the fourth round of the year.

40-42 82 yesterday afternoon. Started with 4 pars. Ended birdie birdie par par. +12 on the middle ten holes - weird game. Tee game was okay. Putting was fantastic and I don't often get the opportunity to say that about my putting.

39-43-82 +11 (73 net)

11 pars, 4 bogeys, 2 doubles, 1 triple

Hit the first three greens in reg with 10-15 foot birdie putts but never sniffed the hole. Almost got home in two on the 574y 14th, playing downwind I had 240 to the pin. I hit it good but not 334y good, tees must have been up a bit. Hit hybrid just short, should have hit 3 wood.

My 73 was good for 3rd out of 6 in my age group. Guy in my group shot 82 gross, 65 net. Yeah no way in hell that dude is a 17 handicap. He actually showed my his Golfweek Am Tour page where it shows him as a 12.1 cap. Guessing they just use their tournament rounds to count that.

I probably had 7-8 reasonable birdie putts today and didn't hit a single one of them.

Highlights of the day were good recoveries. Hit it into the lateral hazard on two different holes and had 200+ to the green and hit the green and 2 putt bogeyed both of em.

43 (par 37). No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Ball striking improved from 0/10 to about 3/10, so that was nice. Chipping mostly sucked, putting OK. I did manage to get up and down twice.

39-40 - 79. Easier course, par 71. Putting was bad, but on the other hand was lucky on some bad shots so score could have been lower or higher easily (guess thats golf, but you know what I mean). First below 80 this season anyway, I´ll take it. Was a competition round too, some lol weekly club-thingy but still was fun to go for a score a bit more seriously.

Oh and I´d be ****ting my pants if I saw bears around. Saw a venomous snake last week and almost backed into a lake.

Played your standard 4 man scramble today (with preferred lies within a club) on an lol course. Par 71, 5685 yards, 67.6/122. We have gotten a lot of rain recently so it was super green and the greens were better than expected but prolly running <8.

I'm only about a 12-15 handicap. One guy is prolly a 18-20. And the other two are easily 25+. We somehow shot 3 under with 4 birdies and one bogey on a 192 yard par three.

Even though it was a scramble, 3 under is really run good with those approximate handicaps right (prolly being generous to myself and the 25+'s)?

Played my practice round at Rio Secco today...tournament is on Sunday.

Beautiful course, some real tough holes...I hit the ball quite well tee to green, but the greens were tough! Multi-tiered, undulating, and fast. So, too many putts.

I would guess that's about what you would shoot. If you have one or two really good putters that's all you really need to score. Even with the high handicaps I wouldn't imagine you bogeying any more than maybe 1 hole.

Dom, what handicap group are you playing in?

So last week I bogeyed the last 2 holes for an 80 (#17 is the easiest and 18 was a wedge from 95 yards that I somehow hit way over the green) and I hadn't broken 80 since like September or something.

This week I was E on my last 6 for a 79. Clutch!!


What do I need to work on?

How far do you normally drive the ball? Looking at your stats though I would for sure say work on your iron game. If you can dial in your distances and improve ball striking I think you could improve.

The field is divided into five indexed flights:

1. Championship 0 - 3.9
2. A Flight 4.0 - 8.9
3. B Flight 9.0 - 13.9
4. C Flight 14.0 – 18.9
5. D Flight 19.0+

I'm in the A Flight. HCI is currently at 7.3.

Played a quick 9 then ended up being awfully slow. 2.5 hours for 9 on a weekday is lol
