Welp. I play all the time up to the first snow and then when it seems reasonable. I don't think I've played in February before but now I can cross it off the list (in New England)

I haven't hit a ball since the day after thanksgiving but somehow shot 90 in constant 15 mph winds and 34degrees at 8am warming up to 42 degrees.

Very glad I left my snow shoveling hat in my car to throw on.

Screw playing in that kind of weather. I'll play if its in the 40's, but sunny with little wind. But I've actually come a long way since my days growing up in Florida where I literally would not hit balls on the range if it was below 60.

4:15 scramble is unheard of. 5:30 or so is pretty standard ime

I had to give 13 shots. I was even par over the first 3 holes...and I was 3 down. So yeah. Got it to 1 down through 13 but then 3-putt bogeyed the par 3 14th to go down 2. Lost the 15th after hitting tee shot OB but almost got away with a bogey to go dormie. Halved the 16th with bogey after I chunked a wedge from 133.

Ended up shooting 84 with 3 doubles, 1 birdie (on the 18th after the match was over obv) and the rest pars and bogeys.

Was a good run. Pretty happy with making it that deep considering my handicap is legit and I was the 3rd lowest handicap in the tournament.

Walked 9 earlier this week shooting 40. First time I have walked since i played Bethpage last May. Hamstring sore after that one.

44-43 today. Driving was good except for one really bad miss when the wing gust got me on my backswing. I stopped, restarted, and failed. Totally the wind's fault.

The iron play was for the most part bad today and the putting was just as bad.

Gonna start a new thread for my west coast trip. Leaving in 8 days, first round in 10-11 days. This work week is gonna go slow.

You need a few more walking rounds before you play 49 holes in a day at Bandon.

Index has been trending down recently and today I met a personal goal and milestone: posted my first negative differential score. It's a combined score of the front 9 at one course where I was 1 under, and the back 9 of my home course this morning, where I was 1 over, for a -1.2 diff 72 (73.4/130).

I am of the opinion that combined 9s are dumb, at least for me, because when I play 18 I tend to taper off and suck on the last 3-4 holes, which can't happen in a quick 9. Still, it counts under the rules. It looks cool!

Shot an amazing 75 in the windiest conditions I have probably ever golfed in. Must have been 35 sustained and they said 55-65 gusts. Saw a few big branches come off trees on the course and a huge tree came down closing the road right next to the course. Was about a 45 yard cross wind with an iron. Had so much fun though. One gust moved my ball about 6 inches on a flat slow green.

I completely agree on the combined nines. Something like adding a shot could be implemented when combining. I had a score posted to my handicap last year which was lower than my career low at the time.

Never had a negative diff posted to mine yet.

That's a really strong round in wind like that. Wp.

Thanks I really hit the ball better than some of the rounds where I broke par. Was really fun having to picture in my head what the ball is going to do once it gets above the tress into the wind. 33 putts is about the only thing that held me back

I've been varying around a 3-6 index and I'd easily be 0-2 if I just counted front nines from my home course. They should just disallow combined nines for anyone better than like an 18.

Adding a shot would be a sandbagger's dream. Especially when they can target courses with a tough front 9. (Or does the USGA keep ratings for separate nines? I don't even know, never submitted a 9 hole score)

They have separate ratings and slopes for the 9s so the math makes sense, but intuitively it is clear to me that I tend to shoot better in my 9-hole rounds than my 18-hole rounds, which are themselves superior to my tournament rounds (usually).

Sandbaggers are gonna sandbag.

39-39-78 on the tough course at my club (141 slope).

13 pars, 3 bogeys, 1 double

11 greens including 7 of 9 on the back, one 3-putt.

One of my better iron striking days I can remember. Was practicing with the new shaft that I picked up at the golf store yesterday. After hitting the range and on the first tee I look at it and see that the adapter was slipping, about 1/2". So much for driver on the day. Brought it back and got it re-glued. Bad batch of epoxy I guess.

If you're gonna post the slope, might as well post the course rating too. Unless you're deliberately trying to mislead, then carry on!

I can score better on Bethpage Black over the tips on my course.

71, was 4 over thru 10 which included a double on a par 5 and a bogey on a 300 yard par 4. Then proceeded to play the last 8 holes in -5. Had a sweet chip in eagle on 16.

Starting to get some real value out of lessons with my club pro - when in the past I've felt like he's just been pushing too hard and I've rejected what's being taught, whereas now it's just totally clicking.
Went out for 9 (with a brand new putter) afterwards and shot a lifetime best 41 for 9 holes. Including two doubles. Really strong Sou-Wester blowing too, but thanks to the lesson I felt really comfortable knocking down all my clubs, including my driver, and played brilliantly. Hit 5/7 fairways and 5/9 greens. Birdied the long par 5 into the wind - long, low drive under the treeline, then another knocked down 5-iron to 83m, then gap wedge to 60cm. Ez game

Seriously considering getting rid of my couch and setting up a SkyTrak (or maybe FlightScope Mevo if it has appropriate features) in my living room. My condo is 570 square feet total. Someone talk me into this fantastic idea please!

Also if SkyTrak isn't the way to go, any other suggestions?
