If your next round is anything like the one I followed up with, I'll take the over on 85!

I went out Wednesday and shot 105...

Well I was -1 through 4 holes today thinking this is the easiest game ever. Then I hit it in the bunker on 5 and 6 taking bogey. Popped up tee shot on 7 and pitched out, then hit the greenside bunker, taking double. Greenside bunker again on 8 and bogey. Then bogeyed 9.

41

The quarry. My aunt and uncle live there and I escape the snow when I can.

You in that area?

I'm in Tampa, just a bit too far for me to get down there. I am supposed to have a free round at Tiburon but I never received it. Wish I could just give that to you.

Oh well, today I shot 39-41--80

1 birdie, 11 pars, 4 bogeys, 1 double, 1 triple.

For the third round in a row on this course I was -1 through 4.

An uninspired 41 this morning, 5 bogeys, 4 pars. The laser didn't work for the first couple of holes as it was too foggy.

Playing another club in the area tomorrow in match play. It's a 4 ball match and an individual match all in one. Haven't played the course before so that should be fun.

Well that was some interesting matches. My partner for the 4 ball is a 4 cap (I'm a 7). Our opponents were the club pro (2 cap) and their club champion (2 cap). I got to play the club pro.

I played HORRIBLY on the front 9 with several doubles. Actually put my first 4 tee shots into the trees or other trouble, making doubles on all of those holes. I was getting shots on 3 of those so I only lost 1 of 2 of em. I was 3 down after 11 holes.

Ended up shooting +3 on the back, 5 pars, 3 bogeys. I would have been able to get up and down out of a paper bag. All told on the day I made around 6 or 7 putts in the 8-15 foot range. I scrambled hard on the back, only hitting one green that I can remember and still shooting that low.

I had the match back to all square through 15. 16th longish par 5 and I was in the green side bunker in 3, pro was on the front fringe about 60 feet away in 3. He chips to 10 feet. I hit great bunker shot that trickles all the way out to 12 feet right on his line. I make my putt, he misses, I'm 1 up.

17th hole 148y par 3 all carry. I knock it to 15 feet, pro SHANKS one into the trees, match over. He ended up shanking 3 shots on the day. So guessing he doesn't get to play a whole lot.

Also, we won our four ball match 4 and 3.

Nice job. How did you like the course?

One of the hardest courses I have ever played (was Tampa Palms). There used to be a Senior Tour event there in the past. Must have been quite a ways back as I don't remember ever hearing about it.

It is fairly tight off off the tees. There is generally one open side of the fairway but there is always a lateral hazard to that side. Probably more room than it looks like but it sure did mess with me.

Bunker complexes were difficult as well. A good number of them the greens ran away and towards water. Good thing I had my A game going in the bunker.

The other difficult thing with the course is a good number of the fairways are crowned on the edges. If you roll off of the fairways the roll downhill where there is not enough rough to stop them before going into the thick vegetation which is marked as a lateral (and basically never playable from there).

Heading out in about an hour for my first round since this. Still haven't gotten it out of my head about how well I was hitting the ball that day. I hope it's still there.

Obviously trouble early. I had a real hard time for a few holes having trust in my ankle and being able to move my weight to the front. Was hanging back but eventually started letting it fly. No pain during the round but ankle is quite stiff now but I suspected that would be the case. Happy to be back

im a high handicapper and too embarrassed to post my scores...but the last few rounds ive done really well for my standards but completely collapsed on the back (shot 12+ shots worse on the back 9 than the front). anyone have any suggestions? i'm taking lessons too and all that and def am getting better...just dont know how to not be so frustratingly inconsistent.

Fatigue? Depending on your swing, you could be getting tired on the back 9 which could effect your swing.

Concentration maybe? I know if I am waiting for every shot I lose it by the the end of the round.

Don't be embarrassed to post your scores. Everyone had to start somewhere, and even good golfers have bad days.

Another possibility is that you're pressing. I know that when I get frustrated by a bad round I swing harder, speed everything up and that totally wrecks any chance of good tempo.

Do you keep track of what you do during your rounds? If not, that might be helpful... if you're missing more fairways on the back, maybe you switch to the 3 wood or an iron instead of hitting the driver. If you're having a hard time getting up and down you focus on practicing that so that you can keep those holes where your long game goes awry to bogeys and doubles instead of making really big numbers.

Thx for the encouragement! This sounds very helpful. Will try it out.

I don't really keep track of things yet...just number of putts. And yes definitely had trouble getting up and down towards the end...

I'm in the same boat. All season my back nine has been far worse than my front. I'm chalking it up to fatigue and pressing, but I really have no idea what to do about it.

Had our "Ultimate Championship" today, aka play the tips and pins in impossible positions. We ended up shooting 81 NET! My usual partner was not available to play so my boss who is also a member played. I think we used his score about 3 times. Twice on the day we had to use my score when i was hitting 3 off the tee.

Interesting pin position of the day was the par 3 6th at 130y. I hit it to 40 feet or so. First putt I didn't get it to the ridge and had 15 left. I tapped the next putt and it trickles 5 feet past. 3rd putt does a horseshoe around the hole back down the slope and I have 7 feet left. Made the 7 footer for a 4 jack and a double.

Some of the holes I usually hit 7 and 8 iron into I was hitting hybrids today.

Fun times.
