Lol I bet I can out-drive you, Sonny!

Well, last month I could. Not now, obviously.

We should play if I ever make it out to Vegas. You seem interesting, and I'm certain it's not just your avatar

Pretty annoyed my course was closed today, was looking forward to getting some practice in with 25-30 mph winds and stronger gusts.

84 today at my new CC. Course has a slope of 141 at only 6200y from the blues. Only hit 3/14 fairways as I had the pulls today off the tee. 5/18 greens. 30 putts.

1 birdie (the 1st hole), 7 pars, 8 bogeys, 1 double, 1 triple

Good to be back at a private course. Teed off at 11:30 and finished at 1:45. Played through 3 groups on the day.

What is the rating on the course? Lots of OB and water or just shots that require you to be very accurate?

71.0

Lots of water and lots of O.B., it is a Florida course after all. The OB really doesn't come into play that much as you have to be way wide to hit it. There are a lot of forced carries over water, but nothing terribly long except for the 10th which is a 188y Par 3.

My favorite hole is the 535y Par 5 3rd. Fairway bunkers reachable on your drive. You have to avoid fairway bunkers on your lay-up. The green is on a peninsula.

The tee shot:

I will have to take some more photos next time I'm out to show some of the more interesting holes.

Nice. I love holes like that with fairway at an angle to the tees. Can make a challenging hole from the back tees but a pretty simple from the front ones so everyone can play it.

Played a different course but still know it fairly well. Pretty easy course though 69.8/114
Can't believe how slow the greens got in the last 2 weeks since I was there. At least 2 feet slower and kind of bumpy. To make matters worse the dumb **** who cut the pins pulled up the ground around it on a bunch of the holes so if you got near the edge and it was going a little slow broke away from the hole. Only putts you could count on making where close ones you could just jam in. So annoying, hit the ball pretty good though.

37 - 37 = 74
33 putts with no 3 putts
8/14 FIR (3 were like a foot off)
13/18 GIR
2 birdies 4 bogeys

Same course today and I shoot 49 on the front. Stopped keeping track after that but guessing it was about the same on the back. It's amazing how I completely fall to pieces when I am playing a money game. Even if it's for peanuts I just can't play with the rotating game of around 8 of us.

Wind was a 180* switch from Thursday and it makes the course a lot tougher.

One highlight today was hitting in a lateral hazard on a par 4, taking my drop and having 234 to the hole. Laced a 3 hybrid up the gap and 25 feet from the pin. Made if for par.

**** the Chargers, went golfing instead. Started awful and was bad in general. Finished birdie birdie to make it look not awful but the course is easy and I sucked, was wondering when the ugly round would come, been playing too good.

Some highlights of how bad it was.
Drive into lateral hazard
3 putt from 12 feet, blasted birdie by caught false front and left me 16 feet going back up the hill
chunked GW from 95 that ended up like 5 or 10 yards short of green followed by a bladed pitch over the green
airmailed a back pin from 70 yards with a SW
Almost hit people on a green I thought I was laying up 50 yards short, hit 3 hybrid that flew almost to the front of the green from the rough 270 yards out
Fried egg that I blasted over green on other side.
Hit a 9 iron to 3 feet that spun all the way back to the front leaving me 20 feet
Another chunked GW from 102 that ended up 5 yards short of green
Total yip birdie putt from 4 feet that didn't even catch a piece of the hole
Yet another chunky GW from 108 that ended up 7 yards short of green.

Salvaged by a drive 3 yards short of green on short par 4
Flush drive into the wind and a good 20 yards up hill that went 273 then proceeded to leave a SW 40 feet short of pin from only like 45 yards but drained the putt

None of it actually matters since it is officially off season in NE Ohio and scores from November-March 1 don't count for handicap

39-40-79. 2 birdies, 1 double bogey.

Much better conditions today. Didn't even lose a golf ball in the leaf piles. Supposed to be real nice the next few days, might have to skip out from work and get in some more November golf.

I feel for you and having to take 4 months off in the winter. I used to be one of you before I decided to move south. Luckily I have a job that has me travel and it doesn't matter where in the country I live.

I am pretty tempted to see if I can find a fairly quiet leaf blower to save time on greens and find them faster.

+1 on the weather, looking like 3 straight days of shorts

41/39 - 80 this weekend. Thankful to be playing golf this late in the season and can't believe my game is holding up, it's usually a write-off at this time of the year. This weekend was tough, I was barely able to drive the ball 240 yards with all the layers and the cool air and breeze but my long-iron game was pretty sharp and I hit a ton of GIR's.
Looks like I'm getting another round in next weekend, booyah

44-37--81 at English Turn in NoLa today. Jack Nicklaus design so water was to the left on about 80% of the holes. Course was pretty meh. They did have significant rain over the weekend so that doesn't help. Course was cart paths only.

Greens were the smallest I have played on a course in ages. I actually liked it.

Highlight of the round was reaching #15 in 2. Scorecard says 505 from the blues but going for it in 2 cut a good amount of distance off. Went 3 hybrid, 3 hybrid to 45 feet. Left the eagle putt one revolution short and one inch to the right.

I was actually going to ask you about that hole after a quick google, stood out for sure.

Boulder Creek GC again:

43-43-86.

Hit some really nice shots, but also had four double bogeys, which is ridiculous. I also had 4 birdie putts within ten feet and did not make one. Hell, I even 3-putted one of them.

So damn frustrating. I know I'm leaving 7-8 strokes on the course every time I play, due to poor planning, flubs, inconsistency, and piss-poor putting.

43+46=89 for 36 points.

Won the role up and was second in the main comp when I left. A very weird round didn't hit the ball well at all but didn't get into trouble either.

The course was all churned up. The secretary had ordered the greenkeeper to cut the grass despite the recent rain and the last four fairways where like ploughed fields.

3 pars, 11 Bogies, 3 Doubles, 1 Worse.

47-45--92

Hit the ball way better than the score showed. I did have the pull hooks off the tee for the first 2/3 of the round though causing me to be hitting 3 from the tee a few times.

Been pretty warm here with a record high of 92 yesterday. It was just as warm today out there.

played a fantastic course in suburban Vancouver, BC..... Morgan Creek in Surrey, BC....... fairways weren't very wet and the greens putted very true (the latter is to a certain degree rare in the summer let alone rainy winter in Vancouver)...

had it going really well at times on both front and back 9....... but couldn't keep it together....... still short irons and wedges causing me problems. i think i'm getting there though.

i purchased a lynx chipper... i know it's old man club but i don't have time/money for tons of lessons and/or practice. so it works really well. i play it differently than my friend who suggested it. i think he plays it mid-stance and pops the ball up whereas i play it back stance and really try to trap it hard on many shots. great contact, good distance control and it bites pretty nicely... a very good addition to the bag...

one nice thing is i'm focussed more on course management. like leaving layup/advancement shot on par 5 or long par 4 in a good position. both vis-a-vis shape of green/pin AND not hitting it in the rough. seems like pro's are obsessed with NOT hitting in rough but amateurs don't think that much. makes an especially big difference in winter golf.
