Lol, I kinda did the same thing at Prescott Lakes. Like I said, it was very windy. And I grew up in Kansas, so when I say it was windy, it was [censored] howling. I shot 39 on the front (other 7 guys all shot 50+) then something in the 50s on the back. It's definitely in the top 3 courses I've played.

I got absolutely murdered in my match today. I give 11 strokes, but I was 6 down through 9. Bugger was only 3 over through 9 (which is basically near career round for him)...got it down to dormie w/ 3 to play at least

Finally broke 80! 38+39 = 77

After a sloppy start to the back, I eagled the 305 yard par 4 13th to get to +3 (first eagle ever; drove the ball to about 20 feet in the fringe, barely curled in the putt), and then missed a 6 foot par putt, a 3 foot par putt, a 4 foot birdie putt, and a 4 foot par putt. Making some putts at the end would have been nice but I am thrilled to finally get the monkey off my back.

My previous best was 81 and my playing partner's previous best was 76. He shot 70 (!), and we won our match 9 and 8 (!)

Wow. I'm tempted to think the course was super easy given those results, but if you trounced the other team like that it appears you both had career rounds and that is not the case. Now that you've broken that barrier I think you will be seeing quite a few scores in the 70s.

lol at "tempted"...dude gets his first eagle ever and his buddy goes 6 deep on his previous best.

Congrats though...if nothing else it takes that pressure off next time you've got a good round going early.
Lots of golfers make the jump from mid-low 80's to mid-high 70's overnight. Something clicks and it's really not that uncommon.

Bitcho,

Well, the other team obviously didn't have that easy of a time...

Are you really moving to New Zealand?

West Point, 43-43. Birdies on 9 and 18. After struggling to break 90 all summer I've done it 2 out of last 4 rounds. Putting has been better, as well as short irons. I hit 2 fairways yesterday and that's becoming a problem.

My other problem is *sick* high ball flight. I hit 6 irons as high as most people hit wedges. Not sure if its a problem or just how it is. Figure I'll go see a pro and if ok, talk to a club fitter about delofting my irons.

Easy course, but we've both played it 5+ times previously and in much better conditions as well - it was raining very hard at times yesterday. Some days everything just clicks, I guess.

Shot 76 today.
37,39.

Started out with 2 bogeys, pared all the way till 9 then birdied.

Back nine sucked. I couldnt drain any putts, and I just played terrible.

BTW the wind was gusting super hard, and doesnt help being on a links style course.

Sad part is probably my last round of the year.

GL 2 the rest of you on finishing up this year.

No full score, Silverstone in Las Vegas. Shot 43 on the first (desert) nine, picked up three times on the back, would have been up in the 50s somewhere.

I'd had my fill of desert golf by that point - played the MGM Primm Valley resort courses Wed and Thurs - and the wind was howling on the back. I [censored] hate playing when it's so windy you can hardly stand up.

Shot 79 with a few three putts. Hole looked like a thimble from the Monopoly game board.

Nearly had my best round of the year. But, best in months by FAR. Actually, I'd say it was my best round, but not my best score. -4, 5 birdies in the first 7 holes, an eagle (drove a par 4 to 18' and made it), a double (OB...this made me very mad after back-to-back birds), and a bogey. Firing on all cylinders, felt great.

Went out Tuesday morning to West Seattle. Tee time at 9.15, kyleb texts at 8.30 saying his shoulder is sore from baseball over the weekend and can't make it, which translates to I just woke up and I'm sleepy still and just enough of a little bitch to actually back out. So it was just me and Entity.

Played absolutely terrible for the first 3 holes, including a quad bogey. Caught an awesome break on the par5 4th when I hit my 3rd shot way left with a 6iron and it bounded off a tree directly onto the green for GIR prop bet cash money. Played pretty mediocre the rest of the way with 2 frustrating 3putts. The greens had so much dew layer on them and I couldn't seem to get it thru my thick skull to roll the ball harder, but that was done by the 8th and I putted alright the rest of the way.

Ended up with a 95. I swore I was down a few hundred by the end of the round, but turns out I was +$105, woot!

Here's what I shot today with the club I'm going to end up getting (Ping G-10 12 deg loft, TFC129 stiff shaft*)

97 mph clubhead speed
143 mph ball speed
98% Efficiency
10.8 Launch Angle
2300 Backspin
+10 Path Angle
+2 Attack Angle

Somehow my driver swings have crept to coming too far from the inside (I need to work on that), other than that all this seems ok? This club gave by far the best results, because probably 12 degrees is that best angle for me. The 11 degree and lower clubs, I hit too low.

(*They only actually had this club with the regular shaft but with my swing speed it should be about the same. I'll test it quickly when I pick the club up.)

40 (par 37). Finally carrying two putters pays off - after failing miserably on the green for the first five holes I switched and closed with 2 one putts and 2 two putts.

-3 through 9 today. 9 GIR, 6/7 fairways...playing very well, but didn't have enough time for 18 so I was upset since I felt that I could beat my -5 PB this time. Oh well, playing Bear Mountain for the 2nd time this Saturday and my -4 the other day, and today's round are really boding well.

I think I'm breakeven with btal after a few times out now. The lines are pretty close but we decided I need 2:1 on GIR and a few other adjustments but it's not that far off.

BTW if by huge fish you mean horrible golfer then I agree. I golfed a 121 and it wasn't that bad by my standards. Getting better though (129 -> 125 -> 121). Putting feeling much better but my irons game was horrible this last time. Topped at least 10 shots over the course of 18.

Meh. Rob really isn't taking the worst of it on our bets. He's so close to putting together a round that would destroy me in props. He putted way way better than he ever has before and gave up lots of strokes in ways he hasn't in a long time. Sometime in the next 5 rounds he's gonna crush me by $500 and we're gonna have to do a massive line adjustment on pretty much all our props and lines. He'll be breaking 100 by spring.

Played for the first time in a long time the other day, and wasn't real happy with my 84 since it came with two doubles and a triple, and bogeys on a couple of REALLY easy holes. Still, it was absolutedly beautiful outside, and it won't be that way for a while, so it was a blast.

Played wolf, and the outcome showed how messed up and fun that game can be. Played with two 12 handicaps, a 15, and a 5. The five is a long ball monster, but can be pretty inconsistent with his drives. He shot a 75, but managed to only win 3 points while we each had 19, 16, and 15 (there are variations, but we play Lone Wolf pre-shot, 3 points; lone wolf post shot, 2 points; partner, 2 points; lone wolf post shots, 1 point (but from three people)). He went lone wolf on three of the five holes where he was wolf, and lost all three. It was a good strategy given that one of the holes was a par 4 that he could drive, and the other a par 5 where he was the only one who could reach in two. Didn't quite work out, as he parred two of them against birdies, and bogeyed the other against a par.

82. Had a lot of putts inside 12 feet, not many dropped. Even with an easy course setup, I'm still pretty satisfied.

Bears Best shot my best round of the year. Front 9 just couldn't put anything together. Two triples, no pars, simply ugly. Back 9: On 10 I shanked my drive, hit a nice recovery to 50 yards. In the sand, then up and down for bogey. From there I had this stretch:

missed 10 footer for par
par
par
par
par
missed 7 footer for par
missed 6 footer for par

Definitely my best stretch, like ever, and on a pretty tough course. Finished with double for a 42 on the back. Really chipped well on the back, including 3 outstanding bunker shots.
