1 hour brake, then rematch on back nine where we played match play, won big :-)

We where a bit slow, and it was pretty dark in the end, the course owner isnt too happy with us playing when it is dark, argument being that we cant see our "damage to the green that we use our pitchforks for" cant remember the english word.

What is consensus here, is it ok to play after sundown?
I think its ok but not something to make a habit of, main reason is if you are the last group out there several employees have to wait around for you before they can finish up their jobs for the day.

Never heard anyone complain about it, but if the course owner told you that he is not happy with you playing after dark it's better to avoid it imo. If it's something that happens now and then it's no big deal imo, but as DD said, don't make a habit of it.

This argument doesn't really apply to golf in Denmark The employees (there are usually very very few of these) will never wait for people to come in. They will just leave and you can drop off handles for trolleys or keys for buggies or whatever in the clubhouse.

103 on a par 72 6400 yard course. had 3 pars. had 1 guy steal my ball that landed to the right of my fairway where he was looking for his shanked shot. didn't realize he stole it until i got to where my ball had landed and noticed that it had mysteriously vanished.

managed to lose a ball in the fairway. lolwat

hit the water twice.

i do think that if i can clean up some of these lost/water balls that i can get into the 90s.

hit my irons/wedges well today. putted well. was inconsistent off the tee which resulted in some difficult situations.

2nd round of the season so hoping to keep getting better.

Though my score didn't reflect it, I had somewhat of a eureka moment out there wrt grip. I always held my right thumb (top hand) as far right as I could on the club as it felt good to me. Even though Hogan's book says put it left of the shaft, and every person I see who hits good drives has it left of the shaft... I still never even tried a full swing with it as it "felt" weird. Well finally today on the 5th hole I had caught up with a guy who was driving really well and I just happened to be staring at his grip and noticed his thumb left. I said **** it I can't get worse so I tried it for the rest of the round on all shots and noticed a drastic improvement wrt consistency.

My drives were consistently straight and I hit one about 260 and another about 270 on a hole with a lot of sidewind. I haven't driven that far since last summer. Fairway woods I was hitting consistent and pretty far and straight. Everything was better.

Though...I was striking my irons really crisp something knew crept into the picture. I was now hitting high strong draws on all tee'd iron shots... something that I've never done. So I was now missing greens and **** due to this and was hitting the ball much further than I had been. I had an approach shot 163 out with some strong sidewind that I figured was playing about 175 which would be a really pure 6I for me or a normal 5I. Because I'd hit a couple long draws with my irons I said I'd opt for the weaker 6I and "draw it off the OB ditch" since wind was moving right to left anyway. LOL a 29 HCer drawing his approach shot but hey it was the shot I'd been hitting. So I rip it good and draw it really heavy and it hits just left of the green onto a slope and kicks into a lake which is like 20 yards beyond the pin.

So.... that kind of ****ed with me all day trying to figure out "new" distances and flight paths. So my score was AIDS but I'm really excited to get back out there. It's pretty cool looking to hit a high draw with a tee'd iron. That's not supposed to be me!

I also hit a 5I into a 180 yard par 3 with good left to right wind and launched that thing way up in the air and it settled just right of the green a few yards by. But I never hit my 5I that high before. It was awesome looking!

Some jackass stole my ball today on hole 8 which is a par 5. I ripped my drive about 270 then hit a good FW wood but left of the fairway and left of the trees lining the fairway. I was probably 30 yards out for my GIR approach and could clearly see my ball settle between a couple bunkers. I'm carrying my clubs up the fairway and I look up ahead and see some fat dude walking near my ball. And I can't see my ball anymore. Then he walks over to my green and looks back toward the fairway so I'm thinking maybe he thought I almost hit him? And he wants to confront me or something. Well he walks away over to this bench a fairway over and I get up and don't see my ****ing ball anywhere. So I walk over to this jackass and he's holding about 8 balls in his hands at the bench with his head down. Anyway I confront him and he acts like he doesn't have it and seems somewhat ******ed. So I start walking back to my green and a guy who had hit into hole 9 par 3 saw me and goes "did he take your ball?" "I think so... did you see him?" "Yeah I saw your ball then I saw him walk to it and now it's gone." lol. So I was laughing and saying "what the **** is he doing taking a ball out of the middle of the damn course!?" and the guy laughs and I think that idiot heard me so I walk back to him again and now he's got my ball. I honestly think he was ******ed or slow or something so I didn't get too mad at him but I was trying to tell him taking a used ball near a fence is one thing but don't ever take a ball out of play. He was turning away from me with his eyes up in the air saying "ees OK, I give you ball back ees OK" WTF lol. That **** is not OK dumbass.

The guy playing 9 walked over to me as I was heading to play 9 and was talking and laughing about it and asked me if he was tarded. He said he was ready to hit his tee'd iron shot and looked up and saw this moron walking across the 9th green. Just right across the green. Totally oblivious. F***ing idiot.

There was a guy there on the practice green who appeared to be teaching a class that this guy was in. I should have told him to teach his students not to steal ****. And not to walk across a god damn green b/c they could like get drilled in the head and ****. But I just left.

Shot of the day was a SW approach I hit on a par 4 that cleared a tall tree in front of me by about 3 feet and plopped on teh green 8 feet from the hole for a legit birdie putt that I of course left 18" short. ****.

What made that the shot of the day was this tall tree in front that I really didn't think I could go straight over. And I didn't think I could reach the green with my SW. So I thought maybe take the gap wedge but then I didn't think it had enough loft to get over the tree. I thought I could probably get over with SW and certainly with LW. So I took a moment and figured I'd just try to really rip a SW to both clear the tree and hopefully get it there. It took me a while to figure out what the hell to do but I picked my club, went for it, and committed to the shot and then to see it work out was just so great. Those are the funnest parts of my round when I use my head and then execute and the result is what I hoped for.
Don't u think that you hit ur drive straight because you were thinking at something else(ur thumb) during your swing, not because u actualy moved it.
I don't know if I make sense?

skipped work and played 9, shot 43 on a pretty standard easy muni...best driving day of my life, 6/7 FIR and they were long and relatively straight, but one of my worst short game performances. drove 2 par 4 greens (made par on both), just about every approach shot was less than 80 yards yet i couldn't get the godamn ball on the green to save my life.

a typical hole was: hit great drive, skull my 50 yard approach shot over the green, chip on and 2 putt

You skipped work and only managed to play 9? If I'm taking the day off of work to play golf, it's to play 36 holes and make a day out of it. 9 holes takes an hour and a half to play on a slow day at the course.

i planned on playing a full round but as we finished up the front 9 i see they had been sending a bunch of high schoolers off the 1st and 10th tee boxes (apparently they practice at this course, i wasn't aware of that) and there was no way in hell i'm getting stuck in that mess

Maybe not. Last summer I had a net 60 and a net 59. Had a net 24 back 9 on that 59. HC was like 33 (first year of golf) and shot a 91 and 90 and haven't broken 100 since.

Played a quick nine this morning. 5 GIR, 2 GIR+1, 3/7 fairways hit with 2 on the first cut of the rough and 2 just terrible swings. But no birdies and 1 3 putt bogie from, and I think this is an accurate measurement, 478.4 feet.

Hit the three wood great off the tee and the irons really well. Practice is paying off.

Yeah I guess someone can just get on a hot stretch for a couple of weeks and play really good and the play like **** the rest of the season. I guess I just say that because it happens at my club sometimes and me being one of the better players pisses me off when it happens.

It's way more likely that a high HCer goes low net. That would be kind of frustrating.

That's the best thing about the CONGU handicap system, if you shoot 59 playing off 28, you be playing off about 22 next round. Then, if you shoot 60 from that round you'll be playing off about 18. Now all of a sudden the same gross score that was a 59 is a 69, and it will take 100 bad rounds to play off 28 again.

But then once you get down to 6 it gets much much harder to get lower than with the US system.

48-44-92. FAIL.

Parred 8 and 9 to avoid the 50s on the front. Three fugly triples. It was cold and I had zero touch to go with zero swing. Did manage to make a birdie on the back and I ended up ahead for the day which is pretty LOL.

Hi all,

Shot 37 points today, interesting round

shot 45 on the front nine which included 1 triple bogey and shot 40 on the back nine which also also included one triple bogey.

so in effect I was 7 over par for 16 holes & 6 over par for 2 holes.

the net wash up was I dropped a shot on my handicap and now done to 13.

and I found yet another way to NOT break eighty for the first time

cheers

Steve

So frustrating....+5 on my last 15 holes, 5 three putts, 5 bogeys, 0 birdies. At one point I hit 8 greens in a row, which I have probably never done, and was +4 on those 8. My putting didn't even feel that bad either, my speed was just awful and I missed a lot of 5 footers that barely didn't go in.

On my first 3 I was +4 with another "3 putt" from the fringe for double and a missed 6 footer for par.

Then on 18 I need a birdie to break 80, hit the ball off a tree into the trees. Have 110 left and have to hit it over and around tree with a gap wedge I only hit 100 yards. Open the face and swing as hard as I can and hit it like 107 yards, have like 30 feet from the fringe that I lipout for a 79. Would've been so epic. #noonecares
