Shot 82 (38-44) for my worst round of the year.

While on the 16th we could see the group on the 18th tee, they seemed pretty drunk. One of the guys gripped his driver near the head and swung the butt end of the club and nailed his buddy in the back of the legs, taking him down Dumb and Dumber style. Then they all cracked up laughing.....

I birdied a par-3 on Saturday. Since I'm pretty bad at golf, this is a very big deal.

The hole is 140 yards with a highly elevated tee. The shot goes over water to land on the green. I stuck a 7i to within 3 feet and calmly sank the putt.

I find myself hit a iron into the green and immidiatly know I have missed the pin left, with a kind of "asfasfsa" attitude. But I still have a 15 footer for birdie, which should be above expectations for the hdc. Probably too much negative attitude, but it is based on experience, and not bad temper. Might have something to do with horrible short game too, what do I know
Thanks...This made me laugh because I do the exact same thing, and my buddies give me endless grief about it. It happens especially with 9-GW...where I hit a good ball that just starts left or right of the target and I immediately say '****' as a natural reaction...it ends up being not that far off the pin, say 15-20 feet but just LOOKED alot further off when I hit it. Then I gotta listen to them say, I wish I hit "****" shots like that.

46 on a hilly and surprisingly long par 36

Consistent, I guess; 8 bogies and one double. Been rained out for 5 days (tropical storm), and just jumped onto course cold. Driver was a bit wild, and mis**** a bunch of iron shots from uneven lies (not terribly mis**** though). Generally pitched, chipped, and putted well (sank a number of 5-6 footers). Only double bogie was also only 3 putt.

If irons were off, hybrid and 3 wood were on. Nice cleanly hit straight shots about the distances I was after. Probably should have left the driver in the bag.

46 (par 37). Awful. Ball striking continues to be horrible and I'm now back to shanking shots from inside 100 yards.

I did manage to 1 putt the first five greens, then missed the easiest putt of the day, a nearly straight five footer, when I tried to make it 6 in a row.

Finished birdie-birdie-birdie for 73 today, few awful shots thrown in earlier but a good finish helps

I hate that when you realise your on a streak and have a real chance to extend, puts so much extra pressure on it.

41/44 = 83 at Black Bear Ridge today. Started off really hot; hit a bunch of line drives on the first 5 holes or so and then reverted to my usual self of hitting it everywhere off the tee. Parred a 468 yard par 4 and a 430 yard par 4 on the back 9 though.

46 on a long 36.

I guess I need to get serious about sand, since I lost four strokes in two trips today. Other than that it was a pretty good day. Had several pars and just missed a few birdies. 9-6i feel pretty incredible sticking to the green and run from about 150 - 180. Still not getting much distance or accuracy (I mean I'm getting one or the other, but not both at the same time) off the tee, but today the irons and hybrid were letting me get right back on track.

Once again looking to break 90 over the weekend ...

48-43-91

Playing as a single the other day. After an atrocious front 9, I got off to a decent start on the back. On the 11th tee, I caught up to a twosome. They said I might as well join them and I obliged. They both hit decent tee shots, as did I -- a nice little fade that left me with about 220 to the pin on the par 5. I hit a hybrid to about 5 yards off the green, right behind a bunker. Made the short pitch with my 60* and it stopped dead, rolling about 6 inches back and missing the hole by a hair. Tapped in the birdie (only my third non-bogey of the round) and they finished off their pars. Then they were like "Dude, you're way too good for us, we'll just hold you up. Go on ahead." So I went on to play some mediocre (and some good) golf as a single once again.

Funny that they were probably better golfers than I am, but happened to catch me on a good hole. Or they somehow got the impression I was an ******* and waived me through even though there was still a wait ahead.

should have broken 80 for first time today. pretty wide open 6500 yard course. very nice, slick undulating greens. but not at risk of too many penalty strokes.

things that killed me:

front bunker in 2 on very long hard par-4. 70 foot bunker shot over green (nice contact) to hard pan. hello, double bogey.

terrible drive and then horrendous bounce (never seen this before) on greenside long chip = bogey on easy par 5.

hit amazing drive on toughest driving hole i know anywhere. 100 yards out. pull wedge into trees. double and should have been par.

nice drive on the other very tough driving hole. pushed my 150 yard 8 iron. bogey.

Good: lag putting, short putting par 3 tee shots. hitting 5 wood. hitting greens from 175 to 125 yards and in

bad: short to medium putts. didn't make one. should have had a few birdies.... pitching was pretty medicore......

terrible: shorter club accuracy.

one more shot today. think i can do it.

99 today, including a 9 on the par 5 18th [def the toughest hole on the course]. Played well for my usual standard.

84 on narrow longish 72 today. Switched to taylormade pentas balls today. 100% A+ ball, feels so sick off long irons and driver, and great around the green. If only i knew how to put today (swampy greens in nh after storms) i would of had my best round of the past two years. Prob in the 78 range with good putting. Missing every put short right, 8-12 footers

84 on pretty easy course.

put wedge over green from 110 yards on first hole. double bogey should have been par or even birdie.

a few three putts from inside 15 feet.

terrible course management on a tricky chip. 7 iron with most tiny hits would have worked. bogey from good chance at birdie.

flew 120 yard into heavy wind over water green. double.

got lucky on a couple of poor par 3 shots.

work on: distance control wedges (less of these soft flip shots), get up and down occasionally. make some greater than 4 feet but less than 20 feet putts.

driving was amazing. huge, huge breakthru. gonna break 80 almost for sure at this easier course. with driver fixed, seems to have screwed up my contact point for some irons. great 5 wood shots today

44-44-88. A wide assortment of fairly bad shots. Thinking positive, I did make a birdie and hit a number of good bunker shots. Putted much worse that I have been including five or six 3 putts, but a lot of that was being above the hole.

74. The highlight was chipping in for par on the 1st hole. Lipped out an eagle putt, but that was my only birdie.

91 today with like 3 dnf holes. Playing so ****ing bad right now it's not funny. I have never been so miserable on the golf course as I was coming down the stretch today. Topped almost every wood/hybrid I hit today including 2 4 hybrid shanks and also shanked an iron shot and a 40 yard pitch. Happy birthday to me i guess

Good round today. Only 4 times all round did I not have a putter in my hand for birdie. Lots of fringes. Almost no fairways. Links style golf ftw! Rough was thick as hell though.

69 (35-34) at my home course, 6650 yards, 72 par, 73.8 rating, 138 slope.

Bogeyed the par 5 finishing hole with 6 iron in hand for my 2nd shot.

The amazing thing is my best score all year was yesterday, 5 over par. Before that I'd broken 80 only a couple times, after routinely shooting mid to high 80s earlier this year.

It's amazing what a little confidence with your driver can do when you're hitting 3-4 balls OB every round.

Shot an 80 on a 7k yard course with 37 putts. I also choked and hit one OB on #17, an easy par 5 which led to a double. I'm such an idiot.

I'm hitting the ball better than I have in my entire life. Back 9, i hit 8 iron into 450 yard par 4/ hit 555 yard par 5 in two/ 5 iron from 180/driver 7 iron on 453 yard par 4/ Driver wedge on 400 yard par 4 into wind/ 5 wood to 15 feet from 230/ driver to fringe from 310/ hook OB/ Driver 9 iron.

Usually I struggle to break 80 on 7k type courses b/c i have to hit 3 irons and 5 woods into 10 or 12 greens. Now I struggle to break 80 because I am the Dallas Cowboys of 5 handicappers.

I shot a pretty blah 84 today (it was wet and there were a lot of cranky old bastards slowing me down), but...

I aced the 172-yard 12th hole with my wonderful 6 iron. It was the best swing I can recall making, ever. Just perfect and calm and smooth and easy. It was early, and the grounds guy was doing the bunker on the hole, saw me approaching the tee, had to stop his work, walk 30 yards, and wait next to a tree while I hit, and when it rolled in (landed and rolled about eight fee, like a putt), he started jumping up and down and waving his arms. He was more excited than I was.

This was my second hole-in-one.

Nice one

At least there was someone to witness it, nothing worse than hitting a great shot and no-ones around

Did you buy him a Coke out of a vending machine like in the USGA commercial?
