Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

91 two weeks ago, which was my best ever (i'm usually between 94-104). going again today.

i have good distance and hit a lot of very good drives, but my bad ones tend to be very bad. hit all my irons pretty decent. my short game is abysmal, my chipping is abysmal. my putting is worse. i probably average 3 putts. goal is to break 90 before the end of the summer.

38-42-80. Mediocre ball striking day, terrible terrible putting. I did chip one in on #6 and almost repeated the feat on #8. Missed another 3 foot birdie putt, never touching the hole. Time for more adjustments.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I SHOT AN 84 TODAY IN A TOURNAMENT BECAUSE I SUCK

I hit a 150 yard drop kick snaphook drive (which I haven't done since I was about 8) that was "in bounds" based on the stakes and "out of bounds" based on the crooked line drawn between the stakes. Then I drove it to 50 yards, hit it to 6 feet, and lipped out the bogey putt. AWESOME.

I missed the green from < 140 yards in the middle of the fairway like 7 times.

I almost double chipped it on two separate occasions. (despite me chipping it perfectly ~400 times in a row in preparation for tournament).

Stupid ass tenative play retarded bull****.

8 pars
SIX DOUBLE BOGEYS
3 bogeys from the ass middle of the fairway and 135 yards
1 birdie

Oh well I tee off in 7.5 hours. better go to sleep. 2 more rounds to go STOP BEING A DOUCHEBAG ME

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Played a very odd round at Hughes Creek golf course in Elburn, IL. Course had the narrowest fairways I've played all year, and was a little shaggy after last night's rain. It wasn't a bad course, but I didn't really like it all that much.

Front 9 I hit 5/9 GIR's, but had 19 putts, 1 lost ball penalty, hit the cart path twice and hit 3 trees. 44 total.

Back 9 I hit 1 GIR, but had 7 1 putts, all inside 10', 12 total on the side. Hit my 4hybrid on a 180 yd uphill par 3 (#11) to 18" for a nice kick in birdie. I left a couple out there on that side from bad course management and not being able to hit a green on my approach with my wedge. 41 on this side, 85 total.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

HI, I'm Pokeromglol, and I have the chipping yips.

I shot 79 in my tournament
9/14 fairways
11/18 greens
33 putts, 2 three puts.

4 yipped chips, 3 ridiculous putts from thick rough.

Make a few more putts, chip the ball onto the green and I'm around par.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Sudbury golf club
par 69 6277 yards

I’m going to make two contradictory statements here and I’m still not sure how they manage to coexist but they do. I hit the ball well, I shot 100.

I had the best ball striking day I have had in a month or so. Neither my chipping nor putting was atrocious and I managed a reasonable 46 for the front nine.
Three holes wrecked my card.

On the par four second I was thirty yards from the hole in two and took another six to get it down, fat stubbed chip, heavy chip, horrible putt from the fringe that caught the slope and raced to the front of the green three more putts from there.

On the seventeenth a long up hill par four I drove well into the left hand semi rough then smothered a three wood into the trees thirty yards farther up, came out side ways then hit a fat pitching wedge to just short, chipped through the green and took two putts from there.

On the eighteenth my drive looked a little left and I thought I might just be in the sparse patch of trees. It was actually in a patch of thick brambles, I hacked it out, it ricochet off a tree trunk and went back in. I took a drop then stubbed a wedge and needed another shot to get back onto the fairway. I missed the green right with a three wood then pitched just over it and took two putts from the fringe for a ten.

30 stableford points

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

6500 Yard 69.2/121 municipal in Denver

Shot 52-41 for a 93 that is one off my personal best of 92, which was last week. Thank you, Mr. Hogan.

Back 9 was my best 9 ever by 4 strokes: had one double, 5 bogies, and 1 birdie. No blow-ups and no 3-jacks on the greens which especially is rare.

Had a sand save on 15 for par from a greenside bunker when I hit it out to 3 feet. Sand was hard so I just chipped out, it worked perfectly.

My normal playing partner (who shot 106) was incredulous of my claims of par and of my birdie - I just smiled and told him they're easier when you hit fairways and greens. 80's here I come...

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I had two of the best iron-ball-striking rounds this weekend that I have ever had, bar none, but I think I hit 3 fairways in those 2 days with my driver. I have recently started snap-hooking drives, and this weekend was no exception.

Shot 95, 92 at Royal Ashburn this weekend. For the 95, I had a 42 front (with like, 5 3-putts) and a 53 back. The greens at this course are some of the fastest and hardest to read greens that I have ever played on. There's nothing like standing on a left-to-right slope while lining up a putt, hitting it on a perceived left-to-right line and watching it go straight right-to-left. Just unreal.

A few shots that got really got the endorphins flowing this weekend:
- 350'ish yard par 4, I pop a drive straight up in the air that goes about 170 yards into the left rough. Hit one of the sweetest 5-irons ever, a perfect high-draw to just left of the pin for a 25 foot putt.

- Second shot to a par 4, 170 yards to the middle of the green, hit a perfect high-drawing 6-iron that hits and checks left towards the pin.

- 50 odd yards to a back to front sloping green, hit a 56 degree sand wedge that comes off the club-face like I skulled it. It lands about 10 feet behind and left of the pin and checks up on a dime.

God I can't wait to play again this weekend.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

40-49-89 on Sunday, 38-44-82 yesterday.

My ability to strike the ball has suddenly and inexplicably gone AWOL. I went from having extreme confidence as late as mid-round Saturday to being totally lost from the start on Sunday. I scraped it around a little better yesterday, but it was still an ugly weekend. Putting was OK yesterday, awful on Sunday.

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

Birded 4 of the first 8 holes today after having not touched a club for 2 weeks.

Ended up with 73, after playing 15-18 in the dark (450 par 4, 460 par 4, 140 par 3, 670 par 5) in +2.

Still pleased

Re: What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

47 (par 37). JFC I suck.

First hole, miss the green by two yards. Chip. 3 putt. Double.
Second hole, miss the green by two yards. Chip. 3 putt. Double.
DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT
Four doubles, two bogeys, three pars. 5/7 fairways, 4/9 greens, 22 putts

Last hole, miss the green by two yards. Awful chip. Nice putt to two feet. Tap it in dead center, it hits the cup liner which is maybe a half inch down instead of the two inches it should be, ball bounces directly out back toward me.

Standard.

Another damned 3 putt.

I hate this ****ing game so much some days.
